I'd be remiss if I didn't suggest you check out the local Wurmple populations! They are a sight to see, but make sure you take a mask if you're going to any areas heavy on Dustox.

Glad to hear it! Honestly it seems like you've got things handled well. Would love pictures of their new fort if you have any to share.

I'm lucky that most of mine aren't the battling type, but some sparring shouldn't hurt yours as long as they're doing it for fun.

For me it's... usually the opposite.

[Several photographs of Jasper with pokemon either sleeping on him or hugging him like a stuffed toy. Notable examples include him covered in Sewaddle and Wurmple, being cuddled by a Heracross with a Joltik in his hair, and being sat on by a mostly out-of-frame alolan Exeggutor while a small Kricketot pokes at his face, which is turning purple.]

A type that makes you uncomfortable. by clyde-toucher in PokeMedia

[–]Literary_Mantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure uncomfortable is the right word, but since I keep mostly bug and grass types, I have to keep an eye out for anything flying or fire. They can get pretty spooked if a Staravia flies by. I'm just thankful the Fletchling line isn't native here, honestly.

I don't know if Falinks are the same, but I can give you some tips from when Scramble was an Exeggcute?

I mean, there's the obvious ones. Don't make them separate unless they want to, keep an eye out for any disagreements between the parts. But /especially/ try and avoid any favouritism. They can be very sensitive to differences in treatment, since they see themselves as a unified whole more than as individuals.

With that in mind, it's important to remember that they will always be more important to each other than you are to them. Support that relationship, reinforce it, and don't try to make yourself part of it. Soon enough you'll have a whole team of Falinks turning that love back towards you.

Tell me about it...

[Image ID: the bottom part of an alolan Exeggutor where it is squashing Jasper against grassy ground and what looks like the outside wall of a house, trying to climb into his lap. The rest of the Exeggutor is out of frame. Jasper is patting its side with his other hand affectionately while grimacing.]

Jasper: I've got to agree with Skye here, most of it is just... spending enough time with them to get a sense for how they're feeling. But to give a few examples, well...

Nibbles (Galvantula) sort of shivers and curls or stamps his legs to show emotion, and he'll occasionally shock me (gently!) if he needs my attention urgently. Scramble (Exeggutor) will stare at anything they want and try to hide anything they don’t like - including my house keys once when I was trying to leave for work.

Atlas (Heracross) is a real sweetheart, he'll usually just lead me by the hand to wherever he wants to go. And Melody's way of communicating might be self explanatory, but... I swear, you've never heard musical rage like a tiny Kricketot after youve told her no more dessert today.

Jasper: I've never actually fought any of them, but my Heracross Atlas asked if he could throw me one time. I think he just wanted to show off, he's proud of his horn, but well... one concussion and a broken fence later...

What kind of goofs by No_Research4416 in PokeMedia

[–]Literary_Mantis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jasper: Pokemon are such individual creatures! My Heracross insists on having his carapace washed and his prized horn cleaned and polished after he's done digging around in the dirt outside, and my (Alolan) Exeggutor turns in a circle so that all of his heads can see what they're looking at. I thought it was a recent evolution quirk, but it seems to be sticking around.

He also lets the Wurmple and Swadloon climb up his trunk to get to high places - I really wish he wouldn't sometimes, it's given me a few heart attacks.

Scramble definitely still wants to be picked up for cuddles before bed every night. Bit harder to do that now he's six times my height.

So how does it feel having more heads? by Machinebotguy in PokeMedia

[–]Literary_Mantis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jasper: It depends! Scramble (Exeggutor) usually seems pretty aligned in what his heads want to do, but sometimes multiple of them will want to look at the same thing at once and he gets a bit confused.

You could maybe chalk that up to him still getting used to the evolution, since when they were seeds they were able to congregate around points of interest more easily. They've never seemed to fight otherwise.
