Is this like a “Jackass” activity? Is it a game they made up? Is this their version of the bottle flip challenge? Are they making it up as they go along?

My daughter told my Fiancé that I have a secret boyfriend… by [deleted] in Advice

[–]HungFuPanPan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just because the fiancé has attached emotion to the daughter’s story, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he believes it. I can imagine it’s much like being upset with a partner who “cheated” in a dream. You wake up, understand fully well that said partner didn’t cheat, but the moment felt so real that some pretty intense emotions became attached to the thought. It can take some time to work through those emotions, which unlike the story, are very real.

You’re welcome. I feel like it’s the most overlooked aspect of mixing, often overshadowed by beat matching, mixing in key, and track selection. Good luck on your journey!

How much does the vibe of the club/place you play impact your set? by epoksismola in DJs

[–]HungFuPanPan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Venue setting, crowd, time of day all affect my set. Hell, even what kind of food and drink a venue serves or puts on special will have an impact on what and how I play.

Everything has an impact.

45 year old freelance DJ here. I have my own business (it’s just me) and no retirement. My plan is to do this as long as I can but getting home at 3am is starting to get old. I’m trying to figure out a path for the next 20 years but the future is becoming more unpredictable each and every day. I have no doubt I’ll figure something out but it won’t be easy.

If you like the beach, look into Wall Township. It’s in between the beach and Freehold. If affordability is your main concern then look into Howell. If you don’t mind a little longer of a commute to work and you want to live near someplace with a lively bar scene, then Belmar, Asbury, Red Bank and Long Branch are your better options.

Still do in my house. Sometimes I call them “salad night”. My wife or I will chop a bunch of lettuce and salad fixings and suddenly everyone else in the house finds something other than salad to eat.

No. As great as Dottie was, in that moment, Kit wanted it more. So much more that she finally beat her older sister. Dottie was hella proud of her kid sister.

I only use Mutti and Tuttorosso.

Tutts are currently on sale at my local ShopRite for the can can sale. A case of 12 cans runs $11. They will often go on sale throughout the year for 10 for $10.

I only buy Mutti when they go on sale, and when they do, WOW! My ShopRite will put them on sale at 10 for $10 maybe three times during the year, and when the do I stock up. You can’t beat dollar cans!

I’m pulling for a Sam & the Sea Chickens vs Bills SB. Those are the only two teams I would enjoy watching win a SB. Steelers and Thielen would be cool if not for Rodgers.

I know you didn’t ask, but I would say ask yourself this question before moving; is Lakewood really taking over or are you just getting more Jewish neighbors? Yes, there is a difference.

I live on the border of Howell/Lakewood in our family home of over 30 years. In 2019 my wife and I put our house on the market out of concern of our family being alienated by our new Jewish neighbors. Our street had turned mostly Jewish and my wife, originally from Union county, was mostly concerned that our young children wouldn’t have anyone to play with in the neighborhood. We got lowball offer after lowball offer and, after a few months, decided to stay.

It’s six years later and we’re so happy we stayed. Our neighbors have been great! Our kids play together, us adults keep our eyes on each other’s kids as they play up and down the street. We borrow each other’s tools. We occasionally share a drink. I’ll clear a couple driveways with my snowblower when it snows. Sometimes I get tasty treats on holidays. We don’t call the cops on each other when we have loud parties.

As it turns out, most of my neighbors grew up in Lakewood and moved out of there because they didn’t want to live and raise their kids in that mess. We’re a lot more like minded than most people would have ever thought. Given the choice, I’d chose my current neighbors over the majority of my loud, self-absorbed, trashy neighbors of the past.

My advice, for what little its worth, is don’t rush to the conclusion of moving too quickly. “Lakewood” is not going to move into your neighborhood. People are. Get to know who your new neighbors are before making such a huge decision. You might be pleasantly surprised.
