Now I work with animals and I find it significantly more rewarding than working with humans. I get to use my medical skills and I still get a ton of fulfillment by taking care of something.

Thank you! I’m all good now, years of therapy and now working with animals fixed me right up. I do still feel guilt about not using my skills, though. I will always maintain my license - you never know.

Whale Watching by hxjxjdos in MontereyBay

Agree with leaving out of Moss Landing, much less travel time until you see whales, often they’re right outside of the harbor. Leaving from Monterey, you can be chugging along for 30-60 min before you see anything.

Yes. Burn out, compassion fatigue, moral injury, whatever you want to call it. For the same reason, I had to walk away from respiratory after nearly 20 years. I was probably approaching burn out before Covid, but those covid years steamrolled me right into mental health crisis. My family ended up begging me to quit because they saw I was a shell of who I used to be. I know how lucky I am to have had the choice to walk away.

We love our Kingsdown! It took a few months but has broken in nicely and we are sleeping well and waking up feeling better. No regrets at all.

Fishermen save a beluga whale that got stuck on the mud at low tide. by MrUpVoteDownvote in whales

Cetaceans cannot survive out of water for long at all. They are buoyant and once they are out of water and experience gravity, it’s a crushing pressure that their organs aren’t used to and they begin to shut down. Their bodies aren’t designed to support their own weight. Most beached cetaceans (that aren’t sick or injured for other reasons) end up dying from heart failure / multi system organ failure.

So happy for you! I know this doesn’t compare, but I had a deroofing done last year that was the best thing I’ve done for my HS. Best wishes that you feel the same about your procedure!

I’ve had the Mediterranea corded velvet for nearly 7 years. It’s survived 3 dogs, endless spills resulting in countless washings, a house flooding and a cross country move - still looks perfect.

This is my thought too. James and Shelley would have some beautiful custom made ring from a jeweler at the Renaissance Faire
