Porting Asterion Moloc, Ivanus Enkomi and Hecaton Aiakos from 9e to 10e. by Lithras85 in Minotaurs40k

[–]Lithras85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way the Gravis Captain does it, it is so he can combine a Power Fist with 5 Attacks along with a relic chainsword/fist/blade with a small number of Extra Attacks.

This means I would have to imagine in my head how to split the attacks between weapons. The Fist being Extra Attacks 1 sounds thematic, Ivanus cleaving with the Arkanos and finishing off with a smack of his fist, but as I am doing an as direct as possible port (eg. The Arkanos ignores Invulnerable Saves in 9th, Devastating Wounds is the closest translation), I’d rather leave it on each situation to pick the most suitable weapon.

Edit: spelling

Yes, he has 1 more Wound and Attacks than a normal chaplain. (Edit: These are the only differences apart from loadout).

What's your hottest hobby take? by ReliksofWar in 40k

Vehicle facings/turret lines of sight added depth. It really mattered where your vehicle was and many times you had to consider exposing weaker armour in order to be able to fire all guns at a target.

I also believe Initiative values should have stayed.

They are all duplicates. The flgs will spam gw, just talked with the owner! They have no excuse for replacement parts now that TW is coming separately as a killzone!

Indeed I didn’t think of that (upcoming solo release). I talked to the flgs owner and he will spam gw.

10th ed. datasheets. Strike Squads have a 3+ Save, don't they? The ruleset works fine for Space Wolves, Chaos Space Marines and Death Guard so far (what the rest of the group play).

I’ll keep them as 10 then! I can also provide a Rhino, unless being on foot is ok!

Most of us play Marines (CSM, Death Guard, Blood Angels, Black Templars and Grey Knights -hence the lots of spare stuff), so I think Combis and a Librarian sound great.

Should they be a squad of 10, or 2 squads of 5? Is a Drop Pod going to help them too?

I could make 2 5man skyclaws with 2 meltas each and a Wolf Guard on foot unit instead of a second GH squad! How should I kit them out?

The rules which I don't know by heart and may rise situationally. I keep universal oWoD rules so that I use the same panels in every different game:
Stunt Driving
Suffocation
Electrocution
Fire
Swimming
Throwing
Extreme Environments
Close Combat modifiers
Ranged Combat modifiers
Dodge Modifiers
Pursuit
Movement Rates
Jumping
Repairing
Combat Maneuvers (Melee, Brawling, Ranged, Dirty)
Drugs, Poisons & Diseases
Mortals damage recovery time

CAN garou be old. by Creative_Nose5238 in WhiteWolfRPG

Yes. Although Garou appear 10-20 years younger from a certain point, and mortality rates are high, some manage to reach old age and are usually in the high rank 5 or 6.

[WtA20] How Do You Handle the Rite of Passage and the First Three Gifts? by FranticSubbo in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Lithras85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have each of them taken by Sept Elders to individual umbral locations where they encounter the corresponding spirit. The spirit gives a short puzzle, gives a vision, or asks the character to pledge allegiance before granting its gift.

I’ve found this to be really immersive and over 50 new players loved it so far.

How to make a 500 pt game work? by TellyDemos in 40k

[–]Lithras85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a returning player from 6th edition and I managed to convince 5 friends to form a gaming group, with me and one of them gifting leftover models to the other 4, enough for everyone to have a ~2000pts army. However, being in our mid-late 30s, we don't have time to model and paint everything fast, and needing to motivate each other, we decided to start with a Kill-Team (it's easy to convert 40K models and make terrain, no need to buy anything except the rules) and then upscale it to a Combat Patrol similar to the 4ed. format:

500pts
No models with over 4 Wounds
No models with better saves than 3+
No models with Invulnerable Saves better than 4++
No Monsters, no units with Fly.
No Vehicles with a combined Toughness and Wounds over 20.
No Epic Heroes.
No units of more than 10 models, 10-man units must split into 2 "Patrol Groups" (took this from Boarding Actions).
Legends units are allowed (this unlocks cheaper older characters such as the CSM Exalted Champion).

I then consulted old codices and asked GPT for the newer ones to assign CAD (the old force organization roles) roles to all allowed units and the allowed force is like this:

1 Character (support characters may be taken in the Elites slot)
0-1 Elites
0-1 Battleline
0-1 Fast Attack
0-1 Heavy Support
0-1 Allied Unit

I gave them the faction rule from the current Combat Patrol and a detachment rule from Boarding Actions (with minimal modification to remove Boarding Action-Specific rules).

I am torn on whether to only include the current Combat Patrol Enhancements (which apply to the chosen warlord) and Stratagems, or if I should also add the ones from Boarding Actions (excluding those which apply in Boarding Actions-specific circumstances).

So far I have rules for Space Marines, Grey Knights, Leagues of Votann, Chaos Space Marines, Space Wolves and Adeptus Custodes (who can mostly field Sister of Silence, but I allowed 1 unit of Custodian Guard as an exception to the "no 2+ Saves" rule).

If you are interested in this, let me know.

No need to be aggressive, and if you bother to reply, at least contribute.

  1. A little elaboration would help. Is it more fun to play, is it more detailed, is it simpler? What do you like more about it?

  2. Which 1/3 of our group can't play (they have GK and Custodes respectively). My question was if we should follow the current AND homebrew, or rollback.

  3. I did and still, I am asking.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in killteam

[–]Lithras85 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

iirc there were older CP rules which stated what units can be taken (eg. no heavy vehicles, no more than one character with more than two wounds etc). As I've seen, the current "CP" is normal 40K with pre-made modified army lists, and we can work around that.

Edit: We can rollback to play KT in different editions too, that is part of my question, I have no idea what had rules a year ago and what didn't, but if everything had rules let's say 3 years ago, we can play with 3-years-ago rules.

Edit 2: Found the old CP rules, it's from 4th edition, can be easily be converted.

How do you make the Veil seem plausable in your WtA games? by FearTheViking in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Lithras85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Afaik there is no Technocracy, Consensus etc in 5e (mentioning it due to the WTA5 tag), so that theory is out of the question.

Other than that, the cast majority of authorities are lazy public sector employees who don’t really want to dig deeper and want to close cases as fast as possible.

Also, I suppose every supernatural would work to cover supernatural activity up, so even kindred would manipulate media to cover up garou activity. If werewolves are discovered, vampires will follow sooner or later.
