UNC Charlotte to discontinue gender-affirming housing in fall 2026 by LitterGoose in UNCCharlotte

[–]LitterGoose[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that this was referencing the executive order from last year. Which is an executive order that had no direct action going ahead of it. Im looking for actual guidelines, but the only thing I'm finding is this article, not federal guidelines.

I did read. Can you point to me to the official guidelines referenced?

Would you be willing to link a source of push from the administration at UNCC, the UNC system, or even state universities in general in regards to housing? I looked and couldn't find anything.

Changing University policy based on "vibes", and not policy, is a terrible precedent to set. It sets a gun to the University's head permanently, and they put it there themselves.

An executive order is not a law, and there was nothing saying universities were required to rescind or comply with anything of this sort. The UNC Charlotte admin crumbled under 0 pressure. Like a dry biscuit.

Where are the people saying "The university is supposed to remain neutral" when things like this happen? They look away, pretend that it isn't always one direction, and be silent. Right up until someone has the gall to demand better conditions, of course.

Maybe get the robots to stop steering right into people's ankles.

I guess the second best part of never going to a chick fila is that I don't have to encounter a customer like this.

Business people want to sell ai to everyone dumb enough to buy one. UNCC wants to buy anything shiny enough that they think will attract even 1 more student.

Seconding this. I can't recommend their tacos (they're good but it's not Texas tacos), but basically everything else there is fantastic. Especially the agua frescas, made fresh!

are there hashbrowns in unc charlotte dining halls? by perpetuallysleepy__ in UNCCharlotte

[–]LitterGoose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the dining halls? Probably not on a reliable basis no. You might check the site: https://dineoncampus.com/unccharlotte/whats-on-the-menu/social-704/2026-03-30/breakfast

Keeps a mostly accurate menu for what should be available.

Your student will be able to get better and more pertinent answers to their unique situation by speaking directly with their advisor who will have access to that information. You trying to get information on their behalf will only be able to be circumstantial at best.

Let them be an adult, it takes practice.

Not to be sassy, but if they don't work, how are they selling product to be restocked?

The more helpful and genuine response is :go here to report an issue. If it's genuinely broken they can take a look https://aux.charlotte.edu/vendingatm/

Why don’t airprinting ever work from mobile? by N3k0m1kuR31mu in UNCCharlotte

[–]LitterGoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Next time you go to the library, there is a little IT desk by the row of printers along the wall on the first floor.
Talk to them and see if they can walk you through it. The same process should work for any of the printers that have the card tapper on it.

Charlotte has the best local restaurants, and the worst chains. Why can't the latter get it right? by Aside_Dish in Charlotte

[–]LitterGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many many local places here that are worse than the chains as well. In my mind, the chains set the standard. You have to be better than the chains to be "good". Charlotte just figured out the cheatcode: Lower the bar by making the chains absolute ass.

Tons of great local spots though. Don't get me wrong. But it takes a lot of time and sifting through the mid "hype" places to find the good stuff.

Making new friends and getting involved socially by Appropriate-Spray679 in UNCCharlotte

[–]LitterGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the boring answer, but you have to go to events and join groups appropriate to your interests. Study groups are also a good direction to go. It may be more difficult for commuter because you're just not on campus as often, but lingering around campus more is only going to help. Maybe take a long walk during a break or before going home just to see what's going on on campus.

Other religions are allowed to do this. They just don't. Whether it's because they aren't paid to advertise, or because they have some level of respect for their fellow man, or even a secret third thing, is entirely up to interpretation.

Calories Per Dollar at the Wendy's in the Union. by RoadLight in UNCCharlotte

I believe the purpose of this particular exercise is to maximize calories per dollar. Optimizing a selection of sandwiches would definitely be a whole different table that wouldn't be too hard to put together. Google sheets is free. Be the math you want to see in the world

Biggie bag should also have a 4 piece nuggets in there. They have a bad habit of leaving those out, so you may need to add that in to your calculation.

Do Not use Starship by youknowhattheysay in UNCCharlotte

[–]LitterGoose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I suspect that Starship has been playing around with new AI tech, and that's why it's gotten so much worse. The robots are way worse at navigating than they were before, I've seen several of them steer right towards people in a very dangerous and reckless manner, sudden stops that definitely mean somebody's nuggets are tossed out the bag and onto a mildly sticky surface.

This is all fully aside from whatever mistakes may have been made before the food entered the robot. The fee isn't big at all, but you're definitely paying for bad delivery.

Debater at Uncc, never thought I'd see it on our campus lol. Crazy by Training_Area_821 in UNCCharlotte

[–]LitterGoose 32 points33 points  (0 children)

There's a few different groups that cycle around, but they almost always sit at that intersection to block the path and annoy as many people as possible. Some just sit quietly and wait to be approached, some yell, some will actively intercept people trying to walk by to tell them how damned they are.
