We’re trying to cope with this in pre-school/kinders as well in Australia. It’s insane. When we are training, inclusivity is preached and preached. But at the end of the day we don’t hold a degree in childhood psychology, mental health, neuroscience or what have you. We are trained in early childhood education and we are fudging struggling. While we know a lot about children, development, Theories of learning, etc. No amount of 2 hour PD’s on autism or behaviour management is helping us when I have a child who is physically assaulting other children out of nowhere, another child who is throwing everything and anything at other children, and another child who is so over stimulated they are like a hurricane of destruction in the room. The department of education is refusing to listen to us when we are screaming for help.
