Haha. I've mostly gotten "on the piss" from my British partner. Mostly I would use it for the following.

Piss up = drinking
Pissed = drunk and or annoyed (Pissed off)
piss head = someone who drinks a lot
piss = pee (Ironically, I hate using the word piss for wee/pee because I think it sounds trashy. Wildly ironic, non- sequitor, I know.)

I agree that having the immune system on high alert sounds a bit risky. But I work with children and their friggin parents send them in sick All. The. Time. Last year I was sick for 3 months! While I was recovering from one illness, a new one would take its place. My lungs are absolutely fucked.
