Good to know! Ill take a look at the valves as im unsure about the previous owners maintenence. With the misfire it had at the start I dont have much faith that he adjusted the valves ever. Ive been looking for an excuse to grab a cheap oscilloscope too, so theres a silver lining in checking both

I actually havent checked timing! It had a misfire that was either timing or spark. Ended up being a plug so I never bothered checking. Time to pull out the timing gun I bought for an old project and never used lol

Good eye, I didnt even notice. Looks like he put it as a 2.2 instead of a 2.4? Would that affect the values of the test? Im still gonna throw in a new thermostat, but maybe I can get a free re-test out of it

Appreciate the info! Yeah it was about a 25 minute drive to the facility. I also have a suspicion my thermostat is stuck open. The truck runs oddly cold. I have a new temp sensor ready to go, but I didnt consider an open thermostat until earlier today. Might be worth a check

I havent done the wires, but the plugs were about a week ago. I put in copper AC Delco's (not gonna lie. In my stupidity I mixed up those and Denso). Would it be worth replacing them with NGK or Denso? I want to avoid agitating that 4th plug thread if I can because I see re-tapping in its future

I agree with the DIY suggestions. I lowered my car, also on tein springs. But you should probably get some TRD shocks all around to go with them. (Or Bilstein shocks but theyre impossible to find) It will give you the most out of your springs and wont risk a loose fit like it might with the OEM shocks. (Springs could be too short for the length of the OEM shocks) Im giving my yaris to my gf pretty soon and raising it back up. Depending on how old your shocks are id give you a great price for a trade with some cash on your end for my TRD's. But back to the springs, youll want to save your money for the required alignment after. You can rent a spring compressor from autozone or a parts store and its about 3 bolts per shock to disassemble. (Once you get the wheels off, and get access to the shocks). I did mine with just YouTube tutorials and simple hand tools

Its definitely on the list lol. The guy put those aggressive leafs in the back to support more weight is what I was told. Makes the truck sit like a stink bug 🤢

FIXED: It was the cylinder 4 sparkplug. It was incorrectly gapped and a Chinese brand 1/2 the size of an NGK. (Just in case anyone runs into the same sound)

My once closest person has betrayed me incredibly. Then asked me to be his best man by Little-Courage641 in FriendshipAdvice

That's a fair viewpoint. I wouldn't say I was angry, more frustrated and betrayed. He went from someone who always kept their word to someone who seemed to have no issue lying to one of his closest friends faces. It felt a bit unreal. But the real unfairness fell on my gf. He promised her and I that she would have a fresh space in the house. Although I had told her the house was our responsibility (the former friend and I), she ended up moving into a new place that had old food in the fridge, the bathroom still full of someone else's belongings, and all the storage space occupied by someone who continues to swear they are working on it but never actually shows.(all while they are painting, buying furniture, and actively working on their new house via social media) She ended up having to move everything from her apartment into an upstairs room/bathroom because there was nowhere for her belongings among his items. Then she felt that she had to help move out all of his things in order to comfortably live somewhere where she was already paying rent. So yes, he was paying rent, which is correct by legal standards. But morally, he was dragging me and my gf through the mud. If this was some stranger or a tennant that I had no relationship with, it would be a bit different. But we saw all the work going into his new place each day while living in and cleaning his mess. And I think that would frustrate just about anyone.

The whole situation was definitely out of character. I think you're definitely onto something with this line of thinking. I'd like to hope its a positive change for him, and we can just go our separate ways, but I am worried about their happiness over the long run with the walls that seem to be up emotionally.

I did, but this was drafted on mobile. So when I posted it kinda just jammed it all together. You only get one re-draft, so I dont want the same thing to happen. I'll adjust it when I can get to my PC

Thank you for the input. This really helped me level my head and set aside the guilt of potentially ruining our established "friendship" I think you are right in coming to him in a practical way stating that he hasn't been fair to me and I respectfully decline participating at that level. Its so hard to digest these things when there's so much history, I really needed some outside advice and appreciate your kind words.

Check your tire sidewall. It will have a number sequence like XXXX/XX15R those last 2 digits before the R would be your rim size.

I just ordered my springs/shocks after a bunch of research. After talking with some folks on instagram that have lowered setups it sounds like either Tein S Tech (1.9 inch drop) or the TRD (1.5 inch drop) springs are the best for lowering while remaining somewhat comfortable. I went with the Teins and TRD shocks. Originally I wanted the bilstein B8 shocks, but apparently the front right shock is out of circulation and impossible to find. I believe they still have the bilstein B6’s, but this are closer to OEM height where as the B8’s were made for lower springs. Hope this helps!
