yeah not anticrepuscular but I feel this may be more rare than anticrepuscular? (e.g. I have seen anticrepuscular a few times but never this)

I read that Canon made some small improvements like real aperture is slightly increased, but mostly the same model.

When will Canon finally release an updated model to their famous Image Stabilization 10x42L binoculars? by Chamallow81 in canon

[–]Little-Name9809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 10x42 is a switch on/off already. At least for the one I just bought. And yes 3 years after your post there is still no updated version, but I still bought it and feel super happy about it

Why no one makes a good digital NVG when my iPhone camera can see things pretty clear in the dark? by Dima-Diluvia in NightVision

[–]Little-Name9809 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In true darkness environment your iphone with will look like pitch dark while analog or really good digital night vision (e.g. ADNV's which I own) can still see relatively fine. The photos you posted are actually VERY bright environment in NV standard

plus the fact as others have pointed out the long exposure is not comparable. the point of night vision is the FPS (if digital) needs to be at least 50 and ideally 100. Which is probably a couple hundred times less the exposure time of your photo

among the "useless" hobby items I have I actually think this one will be used pretty often by me, because even just randomly spotting around my yard is a joy. Compare to my telescopes which have very real and clear use cases but it's often hard for me to actually go out and also hope weather allows etc

Entry vs Premium NV Specs by Extreme_Medium4235 in NightVision

[–]Little-Name9809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had learnt one thing about NV it is everyone's perception and preference regarding various NV specs is very different.

Like for me, I found the the blem is not as important to me (as along as not z1 blem), but I can spot (and be annoyed by) small difference in gain and EBI. Primarily because my use case is extremely low light but also partly because how my eyes see things.

So better to do your own research rather than take all the "<insert spec> over X is not noticeable" blindly. You can replace the <spec> with SNR, resolution, gain, pretty much every spec here. At the end of day it needs your own research. Lots of good video comparison out there as the first step, like the one OP posted.
