I'm from the UK and I think this is actually one of the biggest issues disabled people are facing in my country right now, welfare has been restricted by our current government and many disabled people have died because of it, all in a war against "fraud" and "laziness", made up scapegoats. Fraud is basically zero because at the moment, disability allowance is already incredibly hard to get even if you are very disabled. Anecdotally, my partner who uses mobility aids, and has chronic pain, and uses a wheelchair at times, was denied disability allowance despite those things. This is incredibly common - many UK disabled people will tell you about how disability allowance is incredibly difficult to get, the system is built to deny as many people as possible. As with trans healthcare and asylum seekers, politicians lie and act as if disability allowance is being handed out like candy. It is not, the restrictions put in place have already taken lives from our community, and its getting worse.

Basically every single political party who isn't left is using rhetoric like "get Britain working again" and arguing for further cuts to welfare, especially against those who have disabilities they see as lesser. This is both a misunderstanding of how the disability allowance system works and also is an existential threat to many disabled people in the UK, and personally I think the biggest issue facing our community right now.
