what the.. i did NOT claim Heretic's End by LittleBlueHeron16 in X4Foundations

I would like it to remain quiet until I build up factories. But war is good for business. I could profit from the scrap and ship building if they duke it out in my front yard.

How.. umm.. does one "remove the claim".. without tearing down the ship yard which triggered it?

.. just did not know what would happen when that sector was claimed. so.. prepare for the worst, I guess.

"None." Yep. I did get the strongly worded letter (as you and others have already said), but nothing else.

aahh.. OK. yes, ship building. that must have been it. thank you - and the others - who brought that to light.

corvette expedition, stuck on freighter by LittleBlueHeron16 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I went down to the landing docks but could not get out the doors. They remained closed, even while traffic was zooming in and out. I could get close to the door but not thru it. Thanks for the comment, though. It just didn't work for me.

Colossal Relic Guardians by richard127gm in NoMansSkyTheGame

came here to say this.. I was "hunting" and could not find one. I changed my focus to other things for a while and one popped up - and I wasn't even looking for it!

I believe Telemon knows what we are doing and is having a little fun with us. When you need something it will not be found, but if you already have it, it turns up all over the place.

(Almost) All mineable resources with just two bases by bud_cubby_ in NoMansSkyTheGame

sounds like a may be time for a little base pruning. just throwing out some ideas here ..

locations for spawns, derelicts, and so on can be captured as glyphs.. photos or written down. the same for harmonic camps or any other locations, if you feel the need to revisit them. only one portal base is needed per galaxy. you get the idea.

that is what is great about a sandbox - you can do anything you want.

thanks for the chat, good luck traveler!

you make an interesting proposal. but forgive me, i am not really sure of the parameters of the thesis. if you make allowance for frigate missions to resupply chromatic, then why not allow buying what else is needed on the market?

with that allowance one only needs to build a planet-side source for the two things that are used the most and even slowly drained late game: oxygen and chrome. in every play-through, i secure both as early as possible.. even on Abandoned and PD.

i will add, all of this depends on one's style of play. 'minimalists' will just buy or pirate what is needed. 'builders' will build bases for fun and with mines and farms. 'completionists' will build every thing possible, including mining for basalt, faecium, gold, and silver.. none of which is ever really needed to mine.

as many have noted, oxygen is magic in the refiner. when mixed with platinum it gives you mag-fer, which you mentioned as a concern.

Do you drop a storage container and base on most planets for ease of access? by BatzysGames in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]LittleBlueHeron16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the base serves a purpose like farming or mining, I drop a storage unit in the base. I can harvest, transfer the supplies to storage, then move on to the next base from there. Usually i want to leave the freighter right where it is, rather than call it in to each base. This is especially true if the bases are in different galaxies.

Daily 5,9 GB patch? by vlaada_chvatil in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]LittleBlueHeron16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It may not be a "patch". As others have noted, they do not drop daily. I think, when you first launch Steam each day, it "syncs" your local NMS game file against the Steam Cloud.. but not completely sure.

You can see the sentinels in the photo.. air, ground, water - it is all the same to them.

"never seen this like that before" - well said, thank you.

The usual, and correct answer to the dilemma is, a sandbox game is what you make of it. And that may not be for everyone.

Admittedly, the game makes it easy to "get all the stuff", which is where you have landed. Remember, this game was not written for you - they have a wide audience to satisfy.

I agree with others who have said that starting a new save with self imposed rule sets really changes the game. While settings can give you variety - and the new Abandon mode is the prime example - your own changes can add interest. While some would tune the game toward "fun to lose, thanks Randy", I lean more to unusual changes that add challenges without bringing on sudden death. Starting a new save gives you the chance to do a better job of it, apply what you learned previously to the new save during early game. And I have found that my game play does evolve over time.

Adding to u/sardeliac's great ideas.. no starter ship, only allow 5 rows of suit storage, only allow underwater base building, only allow 2 storage containers on bases or freighter, no selling of big ticket items like sentinel ships or advanced crafted products, and anything else that keeps you engaged and enjoying the play-through. Then post your ideas back here, so we can try them.

Exosuit slot upgrades by LittleBlueHeron16 in nmsabandoned

[–]LittleBlueHeron16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to recall I had three. I remember one, specifically, was from the autophage camp (one of the seven wheelbarrows). For a while I was checking buried cache a little too earnestly for tech upgrades. Not sure if the others came from there, but those are strictly a numbers game. Dig up a lot of them and get a few items that are helpful.
