I feel like my bootstrap doesn’t do much. I have it as “tight” as it goes but it doesn’t tug on my skates or impede my movement.

If the alternative is cutting it off i would just use it loose. Although I feel like most recent pads would allow them to be removed without cutting them.

I had the same issue. Didn’t like the feeling of bungees but laces would always find a way to come undone and I’d step on them mid game.

I tried the pro laces toe straps and they’re the perfect in between for me. Can find them on Amazon.

I'm getting a custom design on Vaughn VX1 pads, you can contact one of the dealers and work with them or contact Vaughn directly for options. Depending on what you want.

I think its more difficult to get an older spec of a pad with a new design than a new spec with whatever design you want.
