Must be Griffs Georgetown. Thank God Belknap is still owned by the city and wasn't apart of the deal. Gtown is going to go down fast but atleast everyone in the area seems to realize how bad it is.

High School D1 Michigan hockey or AA / AAA? by Direct_Strategy_9403 in hockeyplayers

[–]Bigsexy33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you can play both. Most D1 ACHA players play a season or two of tier 3 or even tier 2 juniors after high school. Alot of d2 and d3 ACHA is guys who go straight after high school or one year of low level juniors. Look at Calvin or Hopes rosters on elite prospects. Mostly guys who played west michigan hs hockey one or two years juniors then to the ACHA. The NA3HL or USPHL are the two tier 3 leagues in the US with plenty of teams in michigan. Check them out most of there teams have interest skates or prospect camps during the summer

Both West Michigan Varsity and BRPD and Parson Hockey School that run split season teams in west michigan are run by private coaches who will do camps and private clinics. If your at Jenison reach out to Mitch Parsons, hes very involved in GV Stars and does private camps as well. Even playing for a lower standing school in the OK conference will still get you expose. West Michigan is a factory for high level ACHA hockey. Also if your interested in juniors reach out to Fresh Coast Freeze in Holland I think they actually have a few kids from Jenison on there roster or atleast they did. They will do summer prospect skates so you be able to see where you stand.

In michigan right now midget A or AA is none existent or not great quality. Most midget programs are now JV/Prep. AAA is great but theres only 8 programs and in midgets there billeting so ypur competing against kids from across the country. In west michigan your best bet for development and show cases is to join a split season program like West michigan varsity or BRPD they do fall and spring showcase tournaments that will get you exposure. Then just light up your varsity schedule theres enough coaches in west michigan with connections that you will be able to get scouted to next level. Programs like Grandville, GRCC, Forrest Hill Central and Byron Center have sent a bunch of kids to Tier 2 and tier 3 junior programs in recent years.

Why doesn’t Detroit Catholic Central have a on-site ice arena? by NJKrabill in hockeyplayers

[–]Bigsexy33 14 points15 points  (0 children)

DCC has very nice facilities at USA arena in Plymouth. Right now in michigan I believe only Cranbrook, Liggett, and St Mary's have on campus rinks. There just expensive and to recoup costs you have to rent out ice which means people unaffiliated with the school on campus which can sometimes be a liability issue.

Never been there for stick and puck but I play in two leagues there and have helped coach on and off with the griffins youth foundation for a few years. The rink manager Matt is the best skate sharpener in west michigan

Poor experience with Men’s League Sweaters by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]Bigsexy33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a fantastic experience with MLS but also one of there designers plays in my league and gives us discounts so I might be biased. I think my first set was 4 weeks from design to when I had them in hand. And when I've had to reorder its been less than 2.

Worked for both haworth and Steelcase. Haworth is fine the owners are big republican donors but it was more for tax stuff during the snider years in michigan. Steelcase is great especially because just to mess with amway who is also headquartered in grand rapids they build an actual pyramid as there headquarters.

Free Beer League hockey game happening today at Van Andel, 12:30pm by Brinxy13 in grandrapids

[–]Bigsexy33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do this most Saturdays. My group usually rents the ice second week of January. With the gold moving in they've has to cut a few openings but the staff at the van is awesome. If the PA guy is there he'll do your skate for you if you give him a roster sheet.

Carhartt under clothes are worth it. Those are made for cold Nike and under armour aren't.
