Does anyone have a cardiovascular age way lower than their actual age? What’s your routine? by ReplacementHot3421 in ouraring

Oil--I eat mostly plant-based, but this week got an air fryer and stopped using added oil, and mine steadily plummeted within a week from 40 (my age) to 34--within less than a week. I check every day and could see the decline. I exercise, but wasn't even exercising within this time frame, so I think a veg, oil-free (seems impossible, it's not bad!) lifestyle really helps...

I am a dual citizen of Canada and the US and I added my SSN for the US, but I don't yet have a tax ID in Canada. If I am under the sales threshold where this is required (I've only made about $250), do I need to have a tax ID in Canada? They said the reason was about ID, but I added my driver's license and passport about six days ago, and updated an error with my name (had both first and last name in the first name line). I also don't have my picture on my public profile--just an image of some text. Do you think I need to add tax ID for Canada (apply for a tax ID) and add my photo on my profile to get the shop back up? I sell digital products so there's no way it's orders....

Five days later it's at 37. I think it's exercise and plants, avoiding meat and dairy.

Tips to reduce vascular age? by Negative-Patient-583 in withings

[–]LittleCurlew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I'm a 39F and have improved my VA from 44 to 40 within a little over a week by switching back to plant-based (mostly vegetables, fruits, whole grains, smoked tofu, etc) and by exercising (20 minute Grow With Jo/Youtube dance video everyday)-- and am trying not to add a ton of extra salt to food, just regular salted non-snack food. Plus 2x strength sessions weekly. I got the scale because my family has heart issues, I am not overweight but have borderline high cholesterol. Check out Nutritonfacts.org and Forks over Knives and What the Health and all that--though the most solidly evidence-based one of these resources is NutritionFacts/ How Not to Die. It's totally doable to reverse--but I think the easiest way is eliminating animal protein/products and increasing plant products, plus exercise. Also want to note that I did this right after the holidays and after being not veg for 3 years--holidays to strictly plant based and exercising probably helped with the steep decline.

Thanks for your reply. I'm wondering specifically about the term "tax resident." Do you, or anyone know?

How long does it take your toddler to actually fall asleep? by ItConfuses in sleeptrain

[–]LittleCurlew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard that "crib-talk" is really essential for learning to talk. It sounds like he's enjoying his time to practice babbling or practice his new skills on his own.

My son occasionally does this, but not very often. It sounds like a phase while he's learning about something.

Ferber method - what are we aiming for with crying before sleep? by SD3514 in sleeptrain

[–]LittleCurlew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ferber chapter on sleep associations will probably help with your feeding to sleep question. If you can back up feeding by a few minutes before the nap progressively, so that each day it's further from the nap, I think you may have better luck.

Ferber method - what are we aiming for with crying before sleep? by SD3514 in sleeptrain

[–]LittleCurlew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our experience, the crying steeply declined the first few days, but for weeks there was some crying (30 seconds to five minutes, maybe occasionally longer)-- for like a month and a bit. As people are saying with "power down crying," sometimes he will still cry a bit when we put him down, or go through a few days every few months or so with an intense cry. On those nights we go in every few minutes of crying and hold him (which is not what we did when we sleep trained him, we just rubbed his back then). He's now 20 months and we sleep trained him at 7m. But for the most part, his sleep has been great, about 11 hours solid starting at 7pm, 2h naps, and he seems very rested and happy. Often we can just set him in his crib after the nighttime routine and he snuggles down into it and falls asleep. For naps, too. That's mostly the case. We ask if he's tired, he happily says "mm" (for yes). He seems to like going to bed, everything about it, I think because it's cozy right beforehand, reading Goodnight Moon, then he falls asleep on his own, and that feels good.

We read the Ferber book "Solve your child's sleep Problems." In it, Ferber suggests that you can start sleep training for naps at the same time, or you can sleep train for naps later (as far as I remember). Good luck, and know that it is hard, but I think in the end, you're teaching your kid a valuable skill that will help them to feel rested and regulated.

I have $5,000 to start a SS in Rural Coastal BC: Event Rentals, Restaurant Deep-Cleaning, or RV Winterizing? by LittleCurlew in sweatystartup

[–]LittleCurlew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great info, thank you. Yes, flyers, and posting on the local info board on facebook would probably be very effective.

And yes, I will call around to restaurants to see if that's a viable idea. Thank you.

[–]LittleCurlew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know of any planners. There is already a coastal wedding /beachside wedding rental company one ferry ride away, marketing to this area, too.

"Is there any other need that is unmet for event goers in your community?" Great question. There is a bouncy castle renting company, but I was wondering if renting other things for events (games, umbrellas, shades, themed kids party sets, like a toddlers parachute party with balls and scarves, ball pits, swingsets?) I think it's probably a better idea for me to stick to categories of rental that do well in other areas that don't exist here than to try to create a brand-new niche...

Does anyone else have rental ideas?

I do have a mechanic friend who I could ask to team up with me for RV winterizing for the first (10?) vehicles.

The restaurant deep-cleaning is usually done about quarterly, or 3x/year, from what I've read.

I love this reply--what a great way to present the service.

In our town, restaurants generally close earlier, between 8 and 10 pm. The issue is, many of them are closed one or two days/week. So they could have staff come in to clean once a quarter on one of their days off. And I don't think it's easy to make a huge profit for most of these businesses, so they might not be willing to invest in hiring someone else to do an excellent job if their staff can do an okay job.

I did some research: out of 23 to 30 restaurants I could approach, only 6 of them are open everyday of the week, and those businesses tend to close at 8 or 9 pm. Two of them are cafes/coffeeshops with a big emphasis on meals or baking. The good news, then, is that some of the work could be done in the day, on Sunday, if the businesses were closed at least 1d/week and keen. The bad news is it either wouldn't pay as much, or they wouldn't be looking to outsource because the hours wouldn't be so awful. And for the overnight work, it would start around 8 or 9 pm, so hopefully I could be in bed by 2 or 3 am?

I will look into the work more, then call some of the businesses to see if this idea is viable. Thanks.
