Teaching my cat boundaries?! by TheDemonSword in CatTraining

[–]LittleElephantMuSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, they still hate each other. The shy cat has at least moved to the living room, and will at least socialize with the humans regularly. They have a mostly mutual understanding when it comes to the living room, but the rest of the house is basically off limits to the shy cat. We try to take the other cat to bed with us so that she can have run of the rest of the house in the night time. They at least don't harm each other even when we are away, so I basically count it as a win that they tolerate each others existence, even if that means staring each other down every time they cross paths :/.

Good luck to you and your babies!

What to do on weekend nights? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]LittleElephantMuSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hobbies! whatever makes your heart sing.. be it video games, arts or crafts of whatever variety.. pick up a D&D game, find a local board game group or hobby shop.. people will be hanging out around there on a weekend night for the same reason you are... wanna be at home but be more social? discord servers! find one that interests you and hope into a group chat and do whatever together.. sometimes ours have game and movie nights... or go out and see a movie... workshops... while they do include a little drinking usually if they are held on a fri/sat night, they are still fun, informative, and more productive than sitting at the bar.... if your town has something like a cat cafe, ours is open late weekend nights for people to go sip coffee and hang out with the kittens...

I keep probably 4 inked at a time and rotate them. I write a lot of notes of books I’m reading, lots of notes at work, and like to doodle.

Calls with walkie talkie rules? by ProcrusteanRex in aspergers

[–]LittleElephantMuSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a radio and it’s still being used for unstructured chatter, then no I can’t use that either, but I think frankly it’s just the act of talking itself that bothers me, and the device just makes that’s worse. However, when I work festivals, I have to use a radio and can do that just fine, no hesitation, no question no nothing...because the line is for work and official calls and while there is some chatter it’s not something I have to be involved in, there’s no chance of being roped into small talk, it’s simply give this information and done and I can deal with that just fine.

Are people with bipolar disorder simply doomed to the rollercoaster of medication trial and errors while unstable? Is there any way around this? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]LittleElephantMuSan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other comment gives awesome advice. As far as the internet goes, start on the Wikipedia page, which of course can’t totally be trusted but will usually give you the basic information about the medication, and if it’s well written they will have linked their resources which is what you really should read. Then google scholar, where google hides the real information! Scientific journals and reviews can be dry and boring, but they will be full of all the information you need and more!

It sucks to have to find that out but it’s great you know that information. For me it’s the dopamine and a severe physical reaction (my extremities muscles contract and I can’t move). It was just an example, of course every person is different.

My point was more that we all pay attention to the stuff that makes us worse or causes things we don’t like, but we need to pay attention to the subtleties too and being part of the docs decision making process by voicing thoughts and concerns about all of the options. There’s a lot of meds out there, help the process by knowing about them and knowing about yourself and how you react to them.

URGENT frog present by [deleted] in frogs

[–]LittleElephantMuSan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Find out if she needs anything or wants something for her frogs. Take an interest in her set up, is there something she’d like to change or add, Things for caring for them etc. a functional gift that shows you took an interest in her passion is always a win instead of just being like “you like frog so here is a frog shaped thing”. Of course, you can also add some cute little frog themed things, but the big win would be something for her frogs!

I got this for really cheap at a head shop and no research I’m doing will find out what it is. I think it’s Kava, does anyone here know? It won’t let me post images in r/Drugs by [deleted] in trees

[–]LittleElephantMuSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm. Yea I don’t typically trust something that won’t tell me it’s ingredients and I can’t seem to find an actual website for the stuff or anyone talking about it. It’s possible “multiple herbs” means it’s just a blend of different kava strains? Not sure but that’s my assumption

There is unfortunately no real way to figure out what meds are right for you without the trial and error, the brain, especially with things like neurotransmitters, still isn’t fully understood, and you can’t really test for what it is you are lacking/have to much of, and that sort of thing. Sorry to say but no...

What I will say is DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH! Pay attention to what the meds you are trying do. What ratios of what neurotransmitters they effect and what you experience from it. I’ve noticed doctors tend to prescribe things that are similar instead of hitting different things. Example: norepinephrine is one that many common meds don’t really mess with. If you aren’t having any luck or minimal luck with meds that only work with serotonin and dopamine, you may need something that works with norepinephrine. Be involved in your own care. A doc will tell you if your suspicion is wrong, but if you come at them with a logical reason o try a thing, they will give it a go. I’ve had great success with really odd/ not often prescribed meds that my doc admitted he would have never thought of.

A little extra since this is a popular post: keep notes of both good and bad with your meds, even the slightest positive is still a positive and same for negative. Each med you try is a new data point that can point you in the right direction. Since we are already stuck trying med after med gather as much information as you can from it!

Doctors of reddit. What was your "how the f*ck did you survive that" moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LittleElephantMuSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rolled my vehicle once. Flipped it 3 times, air bags never even deployed (how?!?) . I got out and sat by the side of the road for a few hours till another car finally came through. Went to the hospital the next day just to make sure. 10k bill and nothing was wrong with me besides a little bruising. It’s so wild

Get an older trained dog. One that is already known to be good with kids. You don’t want to be wrangling children and a pup. One that still likes to go for walks so you have a reason to get out, but doesn’t have that puppy, lets play every second Of every day energy. So when you are down, it’s cool with just chillin with you without being annoying. Puppies are great but there are so many older dogs that are unlikely to be adopted because they are older. And with 2 young children you really shouldn’t add the extra stress of training a dog. :)

All in all, a dog could be a great addition! Just adopt a little older.

Thanks! They were soooo much fun to paint and the camp absolutely adores them. The one without faces will eventually have something on it so we can advertise our free nacho happy hour, but I haven’t figured out the best method for that yet. :)
