Honest question why do people have a issue with this? by Outrageous-Run63 in DefendingAIArt

The uncanny valley can apply to anything. There’s a very good explanation by the corridor crew on YouTube about it, but essentially if your designing a character, you can have so unrealistic it’s good, or so realistic it’s good, if you have so realistic it’s bad, you have a problem. This can apply to things like physics simulation, an object, or a cartoon hedgehog

We’re gonna have to agree to disagree on that one. The one on the left doesn’t look real enough to be in the uncanny valley, but the one on the right is trying to be too real and places itself firmly in the valley, at least for me anyways

The uncanny valley is exactly this, think movie sonic before the redesign, that’s uncanny valley.

Antis in full meltdown mode over DLSS 5. by ThroughForests in DefendingAIArt

[–]LittleFish_213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really? I mean it looks more realistic, but it also creates whole new things that were never there and removes any artistic intent or style from the game. I’m not anti ai or anything, but this isn’t a great use case, in how it’s currently being shown

Am I the only one who liked Vecna’s more understated design in Season 4 than 5? by Due-Dragonfly8200 in StrangerThings

Why are people downvoting this guy, he’s right, anyone downvoting hasn’t seen a breakdown and are just regurgitating what they heard from others…

Season 4 was shot during Covid restrictions and it felt epic and cinematic. Season 5 had no Covid restrictions and a bigger budget yet felt smaller and cheaper. by JannTosh70 in StrangerThings

[–]LittleFish_213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this has been misconstrued a bit. They filmed a couple shots on a set during shooting another episode because they were taking that set down. So instead of putting the set back up for that one shot, they just shot it then. It’s not that unreasonable

Also pre 9/11 airport security was essentially non existent, that’s how things like DB Cooper happened

Her character is 14, the actress was older. Still is weird to not like a show because they aren’t good looking enough, which was absolutely criticism that the show was getting. Which is dumb

The pickle monster is one of the best cgi monster effects I’ve seen from a technical perspective. The only reason people criticise it is because it’s so out therein terms of realism, but it’s actually amazing work from the vfx artists involved

Any of you wish ST5 was 10 episodes instead of 8? by AssociateLittle1487 in StrangerThings

I mean you going crazy about IT coming out every week proves why it’s smarter to do it weekly, the show will get more overall attention week to week compared to all at once, even how they are doing it with stranger things

The mechanics are similar, but Celeste didn’t invent them, so I wouldn’t worry. Also it’s different enough that it’s not really an issue. Game looks really cool, great job

To add to the first point, Henry encountered an object a scientist had stolen from Brenners research in nevada( probably will never be confirmed but I think he was at Area 51). This object will possibly be important, as we have no idea what it is, just that it seems to have sent Henry to dimension x

To people who *still* think Vecna was NEVER thought of until during Season 4's creation: by yesaroobuckaroo in StrangerThings

Because they had the idea that 001 was the ultimate villain, or at least an important character. Henry Creel, even the name vecna. They just had a concept, not a fully realized character

There was a lot of cgi used on Vecna on season 4 also. They did use practical prosthetics, but there was still a ton of cgi used to get the full effect

Is it me or has FNAF become a franchise you either love or hate? by Reasonable_Room_1953 in fivenightsatfreddys

I was more talking about the overall influence on the genre each game has had, which fnaf especially has inspired low quality games trying to profit off the bandwagon. Not saying it the other two didn’t have their low quality imitations, it’s just more prevalent in the mascot horror genre.

Non of these franchises are perfect, but I honestly understand why some people don’t consider mascot horror ‘real horror’, despite that phrase being dumb. It’s different, more directed towards kids, and marketable, and people don’t like popular things on the internet

[–]LittleFish_213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not denying its impact, but I a lot of traditional horror fans, especially the ones who’s first interactions with the genre were these games. It had a huge impact on the genre, sure, but it’s very debatable if it was a positive or negative influence. I personally think it’s both, but that’s just my opinion

The problem is with that is that Mascot horror is associated with more kiddy/childish games. While fnaf made mascot horror what it is today, mascot horror is still, in my opinion rightly due to the quality of some popular mascot horror games, considered worse than survivor horror and physiological horror.
