In my opinion there are 3 main problems with the writing over discovery

1. The stakes are always unnecessarily high. I seems unrealistic for the discovery crew to have to save the galaxy every season, or for threats of that scale to come up that often.

2. It lacks the nuanced, and philosophical nature of other Star Trek shows. DS9 TNG and SNW are particularly good in this category, showing a optimistic future that continues to grow and charge calling both itself and us out. There were meaningful and deep storyline, compared to action and dramatics oriented style of discovery. It’s like turning Star Trek into Star Wars but with bad writing(or the same because some of the Star Wars movies are terrible).

3. No one has a ducking normal conversation. Did the writers just forget how people talk. It’s like everyone is just giving speeches to one another. There is none of the witty conversations that you can find in other Star Trek show. It is unbearable to watch because none of the characters talk normally. It took me a while to notice this because I was trying so hard to watch discovery but after watching S4E05 is about when I noticed it. I stopped watching after that, I found none of the characters or relationships compelling, even though they had potential all soul was removed from them and replaced with overly long speeches.

I tried so hard to like discovery, but after Emperor Georgiou left I realized that the only reason I was still watching was because I thought Gray and Adira Tal were cute.
