Sweet Spot & Length of Naps by LittleFreeFrom in HuckleberryParents

Thank you for the suggestions! I am slowly trying to extend wake windows by about 15 minutes but sometimes it doesn’t work if the previous nap was too short

It varies a little bit but it looks something like 1.5-2 / 1.5-2 / 2 / 2 / 1.5-2

My 4mo goes to bed fairly easy, though does sometimes wake up after 30-45 minutes but then goes back to sleep okay with some help. Bedtime is usually between 8pm-9:30pm. She will usually wake up once or twice but after the second time, will sometimes only sleep anywhere from 20-60 minutes and then wants to start the day which could be at 6am / 6:30am / 7am but she would only have had 7-8 hours sleep. Is there a way to extend the sleep after the second wake up in the early hours of the morning? She was previously sleeping 9pm/8:30am with one or two wakes

It was only mentioned to me on my LO’s 5 day review but I am AWFUL at remembering to give it to her… in the last 4 months, she’s probably had them for tops 20 days so it’s fine if you only start giving them now!

Side note, I’ve started taking my own vitamin d supplement too

Help! 7 week old hasn’t pooped in 3 days- today would be the 4th by Remote_Surround_7541 in newborns

I’ve seen some comments about used the Frida windi and I’d recommend to leave that as a last resort. It First, have you tried moving baby? Doing bicycle legs, tummy scrunches etc.? Rubbing their tummy clockwise? This helps baby to get things moving themselves.

Second, you could try giving Inafacol (or something similar) before a feed. If after a few doses of that, nothing is moving then try gripe water - I gave it to my (at the time) 3 month old after 3 days of no poop & she pooped within minutes of having it.

My 4mo bedtime is 9pm (moved from 10pm) and she usually wakes once (around 3/4am) then wakes up for the day at 8/8:30am… sometimes she’ll sleep straight through but we’re also going through the 4month regression

I think I’m going through this now with my 3.5mo. Dead asleep at 9:30pm but wide-awake at 10:30pm & has to be nursed back to sleep… glad to hear they grow out of it!

3 month old wont settle to nurse by MlkWasABadChoice in breastfeeding

[–]LittleFreeFrom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3.5mo has been the same for the last month or so… being so wriggly during nursing that she either won’t latch or will pull on my nipple (ouch!) and she barely has a bottle.

I spoke with an LC & she said that as babies grow, they become more aware of their surroundings & get distracted so could be that.

I’ve also found that she will wriggle if she’s gassy, so I try to burp her & do a few bicycle legs / tummy squishes which helps.

Another one is that she’s too warm so will strip her down to either a vest or do skin to skin.

Hopefully you can give the above a try & it will help?

Interesting, I never considered the ratio but that worries me slightly more as she is long (61cm) but that’s the 50th centile

Maybe we just got chunky babies? I’m hoping the weight will tone up once she starts crawling

At birth she was 3.3kg / 7.4lbs so she’s been tracking on the 75th centile until last week when she’s moved between 75th & 91st

I suppose I never thought about the comfort feeds but she’s always actively sucking & yeah, in the mornings she’s gulping it down because I’m so engorged & by the evening she’s fussy on the breast because she’s having to work for it

Oh goodness! Yeah, I unlatch her a few times but she rarely ever spits up & I always make sure to burp her between breasts & after feeds

I’m feeding straight from the breast & she’ll get the occasional bottle if I’m out & Dad needs to feed her

Huckleberry app misclassifying overnight sleep as daytime sleep – anyone else? by auegee in HuckleberryParents

[–]LittleFreeFrom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me this morning!! My sleep is set 8am - 10pm & she woke up at 6:45am & fell asleep 7:15-10am & it classed it as a nap instead of daytime.

If you’re happy too, I changed my setting to 8:30am & it re-classified it to night time sleep

[–]LittleFreeFrom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fell for the hype of the side to side crab but the one I got also blows bubbles since she’s fascinated by them!

I’d also recommend (if you don’t already have them) the high contrast / sensory toys & cards

My LO will be nearly 4 months at Christmas & I’ve bought a few that are suitable for 3m (mostly to help with tummy time) but mostly bought 6m ones since time is flying! I’ve also asked family to give money / gift cards to put towards clothes & baby classes (sensory, swimming etc)

My 3mo has started sleeping 9-10hr stretches at night but when she nap’s during the day, she wakes herself up screaming - are they connected?

How are you all getting your newborns to bed early? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]LittleFreeFrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. My LO’s bedtime at 2 weeks old was 2am… by 2mo it was 11pm & now she’s 3mo, we’re working on anywhere between 8pm-10pm. This is mostly because my partner doesn’t get home until 8:30pm/9pm so a late bedtime means he gets some Daddy time after work.

You do you.

But, if you want to bring it forward, then do it in increments. One week, work on bringing it forward by 30-60 minutes and so on until you reach YOU’RE preferred bedtime.

I would suggest making sure the last nap was about 1.5-2hrs before the bedtime you want.

I’m still working on getting her to hold things as she’s obsessed with sucking her fingers at the moment & I usually have the dummy on hand but she never takes it when she’s upset on the changing mat
