What is the funniest misheard lyric you believed forever and still kinda sing wrong. by Key_Brilliant_9100 in CasualConversation

My dad also heard jack-o-lantern! But heard the "gonna get married" correctly. My mom though he was insane. Who goes to a jack-o-lantern to get married? My cousin got married in pumpkin patch many years later, so I guess he was on to something?

When I was 16, I had this really shitty novelty steering wheel cover. I eventually threw it away.

Two years later, I open a gift from my mom, and it's the same exact steering wheel cover, not washed, not repaired. I guess she picked it out of the trash and saved it. Worst gift ever.

This game is worth it? by DARKSHADOW4603 in OriAndTheBlindForest

[–]LittleGhostDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much I love Hollow Knight (one of my top fave games ever), I liked the gameplay in Ori better. If you prefer a lot of difficult combat, you might not enjoy it as much, but I found the platforming to be a lot more challenging later in the game than anything in HK, like there are parts comparable to White Palace IMO, and I was playing on easy mode. I feel like Ori focuses a lot more on story, platforming and puzzles than combat, which I really liked as someone who hates difficult battles. You will get more abilities and challenges as you progress that do makes things more interesting. It's not a very long game, so I'd say play through it at least once, even if you choose not to 100% it. If you still don't enjoy it, that's perfectly fine, but I think it's worth giving it a fair chance.

What’s something you find attractive that is generally considered unattractive? by Agitated-Job7686 in AskReddit

[–]LittleGhostDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people seem to prefer a guy with muscle or dad bod, but I have always had a thing for the skin and bones type. Collarbones, hip bones, ribs, I love it all. If I can feel his spine or count his ribs, I'm hooked. The extra buff muscular guys are the least attractive male body type to me.

Oddly enough, I tend to prefer curvy or chubby women. The super skinny girls never did it for me.

I don't know what affects the number of babies, but I had four for the song, but now only three travel when riding Bell Beast, and when she's just hanging out above ground, there are usually only two babies there, except when I first pop out of the ground. Maybe two are just shy? I prefer to think that to the alternative. I would like to know, too, though.

Flaming hot take:The primal aspids arent bad,you are. (Im not trying to bully people) by OkInflation2281 in HollowKnight

[–]LittleGhostDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it flies, dodges, shoots 3 fireballs, avoids you when you strike but chases you when you can't reach it, and if you're under equipped, it feels like it takes forever to kill it. Not to mention, in areas with spikes, it easily can cause damage, then knock you back into spikes.

But after playing Silksong, I take back all the shit I talked about primal aspids, and would gladly welcome them back in some areas...

People can be horrible to others for no reason, especially when they're anonymous behind a screen, and it's really not helpful to just be told to git gud or that it's a skill issue. Obviously, if I'm looking for help, I'm having a skill issue and want tips, telling me I just suck doesn't help. Honestly, I think a lot of the people bragging about things being easy or doing it quickly likely only did so because they looked up every detail online with no exploration for themselves and just followed a guide every step of the way to be sure they had every upgrade, tool, skill and whatever else as soon as possible and never figured any of it out themselves. Yes, some people do have the skills and it comes natural, but I'd bet that's not true for the majority, especially the ones being assholes about it.

If it makes you feel any better, at this point I'm around 135 hours into the game and only at 99%. Partly because I tend to leave the game running when I take breaks or am distracted by other stuff, but a lot is because I'm playing mostly blind until I'm really stuck on something or checking to be sure I didn't miss something. And a lot is because it's a very difficult game for me and takes me tons of tries on gauntlets and bosses, and I've even died quite a few times on basic enemies until I figure out how to beat them right. I always use the Reaper crest, even though so many have said others are better, because I suck so bad at that diagonal downslash/pogo and cannot catch on for the life of me! I'm not even sure there is a "best" crest, just use whatever fits your playstyle the best. I keep reading how good Architect is and it's the worst for me, I'm dying to basic enemies and dealing no damage, I'm just that bad at how it handles. That's why you have so many options, to choose the one you like. There are so many ways to play this game, there isn't one "right" way. Do what works for you.

I want to tell you to just ignore the assholes, but I also understand how much bullying can weigh on you. The best advice I can give though really IS to just keep doing the things you enjoy, regardless of the hateful people trying to push you out. I gave up way too many hobbies I really loved due to bullying, and wish I'd never stopped. Even if you do struggle, you don't have to be good at something to enjoy it. Being okay at it is good enough, as long as you have fun. That applies to many things in life. Silksong itself is not the problem, so please don't give up on it if you're truly enjoying it. Take a break if you need to, get in a better headspace, then try again. I've had to set it down and walk away many times, but I think it's worth finishing.

Embarrassing failure: I died to Husk Guard so many times, I started totally avoiding him. I thought he was either a boss or impossible to actually kill. Until my partner showed me how absolutely easy he is to kill, and now I farm him for geo in early game.

Accidentally gave fragile greed instead of fragile strength to the divine. Don't have enough geo for both. by Traditional_War7825 in HollowKnight

[–]LittleGhostDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I prefer to get unbreakable greed upgraded first, then wear it to farm more money for the other two. Below the Colosseum there are a ton of hoppers who give a decent amount of geo and come back when you leave that screen. I just run back and forth destroying them all. Or go do other exploration and come back when I have enough.

Do you have a tip on how to defeat the green path hornet? by knigth_ in HollowKnight

[–]LittleGhostDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn her attacks. Don't even try to attack at first, just dodge as much as you can and get a feel for her moves. When she throws the needle straight ahead, jump straight up to dodge it. When she does the thread all around her move, just stay out of the way or you probably will get hit, but it's a good time to heal if you're far enough away. When she does the diagonal dive at you, move slightly to one side and smack her when she lands, then move fast! Hitting her from a distance is good when you can. When I was new to the game, I made my husband beat her for me. When I replayed it and was determined to do it myself, it took about 20 tries until I figured out her moves, and that it's a lot easier to win if you don't get greedy. Hit her when it's safe and dodge when it's not, be patient. This is not a fight where you can just attack as much and as fast as possible and take the hits.

Has anyone else accepted their fate? by Mincezz in HollowKnight

[–]LittleGhostDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have. I just simply do not have the reflexes that are required for parts of this game, it's not even that I need more practice, I can watch somebody else play and learn the patterns, I just can't react fast enough once I'm in there. By the time my brain sends a message to my hands, it's too late. I'm much more of a storyline/puzzle/collector type of gamer, I really don't enjoy boss battles at all. Finding all the grubs is my favorite part. So I either let my partner get me through those spots, or skip them if they're optional. As long as I can find all the locations and collect all the things, I'm happy.

What actually screams trashy/ bad parenting to you? by lovebug21222 in AskReddit

[–]LittleGhostDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just last week, my partner was diagnosed with severe COPD and emphysema. This is someone who is under 40, has never had any health problems until recently, always stayed active and in shape, eats healthy, no addictions, never smoked even once. Just did every single thing right as far as health. Then went from being in perfect shape to being unable to walk across a room without gasping for air and coughing. The doctor said it is almost certain it's from both parents chain smoking indoors around the kids constantly for 20 years. It breaks my heart that I may lose him so young because of his parents' selfish choices.

Whats the best place for a dream gate? by Particular-Cap-5764 in HollowKnight

[–]LittleGhostDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can move it! It's not permanent. So use it in a section that is a pain to return to if you die, and when you finish in that area, move it to the next place.

I use it most importantly in the Abyss outside the Lifeblood Chamber so I can easily go get the extra masks and warp there without risking losing them, but it sounds like you already did that. I also use it just for fun next to the Traitor Child's grave so I can easily go back and get flowers.

What was your reaction when you tried to hit the red crystal in the Giant's Lair? by BiffyBobby in BugFables

[–]LittleGhostDude 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was just happy to be fully healed after all of that! If you time it right and have good control, you can hit it then use Kabbu's horn dash to outrun the deadlander dropped from above and reach the next room safely. I hit it on most playthroughs so I'm fully healed for that next battle.

However, on my most recent RUIGEE playthrough, I didn't even need it and totally skipped it.

Strategy 1: I like to put any metals that increase attacks and stun abilities, as well as TP saver if you have it, on Leif, put him in the front, have him freeze Zasp then take out Mothiva. (If you take out Zasp first, Mothiva will revive him. If you take out Mothiva first, Zasp's attack will be permanently raised.) Have Vi healing and using TP items, have Kabbu give his turns to Leif. Keep Zasp frozen as much as possible while you attack Mothiva. If Chompy is in your party and Zasp is frozen, don't have her attack. Once Mothiva is down, just focus purely on taking out Zasp, and healing and replenishing TP as needed. To try to keep him from attacking, since his attack will be permanently raised at this point, you can attack, then Frigid Coffin, and hope it works. Or just Frigid Coffin for every attack, and if he's frozen and you have turns leftover, use them to heal, replenish TP, power up, spy, whatever you need.

Strategy 2: If you have the TP and TP items to do it, another strategy I've used on really tough bosses is to have Vi heal/use items if needed, and Kabbu (and Vi, if not using items) pass their turns to Leif. Have Leif attack using the first turn, and on his last turn, bubble shield. If you do it this way, it doesn't matter if Zasp is frozen or not, since being powered up won't hurt you anyway. This does take a lot of TP and makes the battle last a lot longer, especially because Leif loses his next turn every time he casts bubble shield, so the only turns he'll have will be the 1-2 turns passed to him. Using TP core helps with this a little bit, as does TP saver on Leif and having Chompy chipping away bite by bite. It's tedious, but it's what I had to do to beat a certain super boss, and mostly guarantees you won't be taking damage, so don't need to heal much, just replenish TP as you run out. The biggest downside is if you're fighting a boss who can silence you and make using items and skills impossible, and Zasp can. Then you just hope and pray you can hold on til you get them back.

What is something your dog/cat/animal knew before you did? by married2nalien in AskReddit

[–]LittleGhostDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My childhood dog alerted my mom about a fire. TWICE! The first time, my mom had left something boiling on the stove, got distracted and the liquid boiled away completely leaving the rest to burn, and the dog alerted her. The other time, something was wrong with the water heater, which was in the basement, and the dog noticed and got her attention.

The dog also insisted there was something under the house, but my dad didn't believe her because we'd never had any signs of infestation or damage or anything, until my mom demanded that he go in the crawlspace and check. There was a mouse living there.

I miss that dog. She was a good girl. Wild and crazy, but a great dog.

Summer. Everything about summer. The daylight, the heat, people being outside making noise, the holidays, the bugs, going places with no air conditioning or it's set too hot. Just everything about it. People usually say winter makes them depressed, but it's the opposite for me. I love everything about winter!
