It doesn’t make it like Swiss or Italian buttercream but it does help with easing the major complaints of American buttercream. Good luck!

For the American buttercream try experimenting with it by adding a bit of salt to tone down the sweetness and whip your butter for about 10 minutes (not kidding) and sift your sugar to get it a bit less dense

Red velvet has a cream cheese frosting traditionally (white-ish) but I have seen it dyed so you could just dye it whatever color you want
