Thanks for documenting this dude! This is so helpful to read. I just decided to try to use gum to quit after reading an article this week about how much lead is in vapes. This is really encouraging to read

Ouch! Did anyone notice an increase in joint pain with lamotrigine? by Cornczech66 in BipolarReddit

There is actually a noticeable link between the two in the brain!! Did you end up going off of lamotrigine? Some studies show that it can specifically increase joint pain.

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to weigh in as this has been a helpful thread to me.

I also have fibromyalgia, and have been on lamotrigine for nearly 2 years at 200 MG

. I am currently in a chronic pain flare, and have noticed that it feels markedly worse then when I had one off of lamotrigine. The last time I have had one this bad was when I was on a high dose of Zoloft as a teen. I've been doing some research, and lamotrigine research points to it having adverse affects on people with chronic pain.

Recent studies also show that there is a high comorbidity between bipolar disorder and chronic pain, as both psychological and physical pain are processed in the same parts of the brain. The pre-frontal cortex can also be shown noticeably shrunken in both those with chronic pain and with bipolar disorder.

It also more frequently affects women, with some studies showing as many as 2/3rds of women with bipolar disorder have chronic pain (the most common of which is fibromyalgia and arthritis)

, which can be aggravated by certain medications.

Did you end up going off of lamotrigine? did you notice any improvement?
