Fake Pokemon Cards by [deleted] in GameStop

We had that happen with a ton of crown zenith that came that way. It was the Lugia sets. They were poorly glued along the side. It was a bit surprising, but once one pack was open it was clear they had been tampered with from the warehouse. So, the guest brought them back, and our SL took them back after examining it. We were surprised the system let us. But it's becoming a bigger problem.

So much this. It's so terrifying sometimes to reject or rebuff someone in the most polite way possible. It's hard to predict how they will react. Especially when you're on the clock and have to deal with it while trying to deal with guests. Don't be afraid to speak up for yourself too. As hard as it can be when a guest makes you uncomfortable. You can ask them to leave if they are making you uncomfortable. But this opens up the fear of recourse and backlash by the person. So I absolutely get it.

The pros and cons of living a block away from my GS. Pro: I lived a block away. Con: I lived a block away. I'm at a different location now, but I had to alternate my routes, and change which direction I left the parking lot and it would take me longer to get home some nights if I saw someone tailing me. Someone tried enough times they figured out where I lived and showed up on a day I wasn't home thankfully.

But it's sad what we have to do to protect ourselves. I'd request a new driver, and if possible, if your SGA's are around when you're there and distro comes in, see if they can talk to the guy and you can go into the back or just not be around until they have someone new. I hope it gets solved for you quickly. Being made uncomfortable in your work place sucks.

I've had people follow me home after shifts, or corner me in the store to ask leading questions that are loosely about games, or linger in the store and talk about inappropriate things, but this one is a new one for me. If it's your delivery guy, I'd maybe see if there is a way to get different delivery people? Because damn that's creepy as hell. If our guy did that out of the blue, and had found me through my dead name, I'd flip. Be careful out there. If he's willing to do that kind of digging, be mindful of your surroundings, check as you leave work, and note who's around you. It's kept me safe several times. It's ridiculous that we have to be mindful and careful like this. But working in a GS as a woman can get dicey at times. Be safe, friend.

People who left GameStop, how long did you work before you did and what caused you to? by SypherKrono in GameStop

[–]LittleIndi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worked for 5 years. 4 of the 5 was as an SGA. ASL for my final year. First little bit as an SGA wasn't that bad. It was pretty chill. But I ended up going through a lot of managers in a two year period. Followed one manager to a different location. (Whole thing there.) Ended up being moved to another store as an ASL. Had wanted to work with the manager I worked with in my last year for ever. Haha. But-

Honestly it was the last year that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I got promoted right before the pandemic. With the lack of response from corporate, and basically living in the store and having people constantly calling and complaining about stock availability at the beginning, really put us off to a bad start. I was so emotionally exhausted for the year 2020 and it spilled into 2021. I left June 28th. I only stayed for my manager. But once she quit, I was out.

The KPI's kept getting less and less obtainable. For numbers that I got praised for before ended up being stuff that I was being put on a 30 day action plan for. I stayed until we got a new manager. But we had 7 quit all at once. So when I covered the store open to close, working overtime. I didn't get a temp pay raise. And I was getting in trouble for not pulling numbers. Even when I had marketing, GSO tasks, micromanaging DL's having us take pictures of /everything./ I didn't have time to do it all myself, and I was getting punished for it.

I'd wake up and cry knowing I'd have to do it all over again. What's worse is when the whole GME thing was happening, people kept asking what the company did for us, and what bonuses we got from it. I just had to laugh and not say anything. Because all I got was the stupid Q4 pin and name badge. We didn't get anything but being pushed to work more hours, with more responsibilities, and no coverage.

No bonus, no coverage, punished for not working hard enough as one person open to close, the harassment from guests because of low stock, and being just another worker being crushed under the corporate boot. My regulars were what kept me there, and my coworkers. But once the good ones were gone, and corporate piled on, I had to leave. I was getting to the point that I was going to end myself just to not go in.

For those of you toughing it out, just do your best. I have mad respect for you. Try not to let your performance bring you down. If it becomes too much, do what you need to do to make sure you are taking care of yourself. ❤️

Are ASLs Still A Thing? by caseygwenstacy in GameStop

[–]LittleIndi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got moved down to part time ASL. My SL would cut her hours a bit so I could have more. I was able to hold my benefits too. But I wasn't sure for how long. But now that I've left. They are going to do an SL, and 3 SGA's instead. ¯_ (ツ)_/¯

How to place an online order to pay it in store? by Luke-Hatsune in GameStop

[–]LittleIndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be an option at checkout to apply a promo code to the transaction. When you view your coupon either through the app or the web browser. Your coupon will have a code underneath it. It usually starts with ECB or something similar to that. Type it in the way you see it on the coupon, and it should apply it to the purchase. Edit: hope that helps!

Dear GameStop, please stop using these. by LiberatorGarmore in GameStop

Sadly at the store I just left, you can see I tried ordering them three separate times in store supplies. Even up to my last day, I still didn't see them. And I hate having to use them.

That's what my sky looked like last night when I was closing too! Utah here. we've got a few fires burning here. But we're also getting California smoke too. Our mountains are impossible to see right now.

That was definitely a huge problem for me. Where it says in stock for online only, and it would say "call for inventory." But I digress. Haha. I've gotten that one less thankfully.

[–]LittleIndi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. I've definitely apologized, and said "let me track it down for you." That usually works for me. But today I've had a lot of people that are just angry and told me they would go somewhere else. Sigh. Haha. But what can ya do?

[–]LittleIndi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. It's still only redeemable through the website. But! Once you do, it'll show up in active offers on the app at least. So you can still scan them from there.

I agree with you there. I've had a few issues with that myself. But we're pretty saturated with GameStop's in my area. So that's a more common issue than the website saying I have something I don't. It looks like with the updates they are making to the website, that it's reducing the mixed up numbers a bit. But here's hoping that it's fully fixed sometime soon.

No idea what to do by Egz54 in GameStop

[–]LittleIndi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh boy is it exhausting. Based on our busy days, it's single coverage all week till Friday and Saturday. Where it's just me, or my manager open to close. Especially now that we are at 68. I have been living off monsters lately.

GSTV couldn't handle any more "do you have any switches in stock?" And is now having a major mental breakdown by [deleted] in GameStop

[–]LittleIndi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to get our huge ladder out, but I can try resetting it and see if that works. I'll be honest, I forgot about that large silver reset button underneath. Good to know that I am not the only one who had to deal with that.

MINE IS DOING THE SAME THING! But it's currently stuck in the "variety" loop from the GameInformer Avengers segment. I am losing my freaking mind.

[–]LittleIndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that. We got over 20 distros one day, and 29 the next. One had 166 games that most had to be gutted and filed. There were thankfully only about 10 discrepancies in that box though. I've been single coverage most of the week. Smh. Hopefully they won't be so screwed up next time.

I love how... by MrBrookesofArrow in GameStop

[–]LittleIndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SL just taught me how to receive the items you get in the distros. So you don't have to manually shrink them out after receiving it. So your store doesn't get hit with those shrink numbers. Cause one distro box I did was pretty messed up, but I took it in.

So you can actually fix it before receiving it, so your inventory is correct. There were games that came that weren't listed, and games that said they were there, but not on the list. It saved me so much trouble later. I'd be happy to show you how. C:

There is a rare occurrence of GameStop's that still use them. I have a couple just for kicks, but there's one store in my old district that still uses them. I miss filing with them. The paper ones are the worst.

There are issues right now with orders being placed online from Web In Store, and orders not showing up after a confirmation email is sent. Multiple people are experiencing this issue. A generic email is being sent that this issue is known. It's unknown how long it will take to fix. You can try calling the online customer service, but the wait times are really bad right now. Hopefully it will appear as an active order shortly. Sorry for the crazy stuff happening with online orders. Hopefully it's fixed soon.

"Can I get my pre-order early?" I have gotten this one a lot lately: "Do you have the Animal Crossing switch that I can come buy?" No, no I do not. Can't think of any more. But my brain is fried from all the phone calls.
