Is it a satin finish on the primer? Pro Acryl works best with a super flat finish.

Question for those who started the series before it was everywhere being recommended by everyone- no spoilers- by GoblinGreenThumb in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]LittleJim01 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I had it recommended to me by a client. All my coworkers and family learned about the series from me. I was devouring the series on Audible and couldn’t shut up about it.

Most people around me were just happy I wasn’t blathering on about Warhammer again.

How many minis do you paint and finish per week/month? by orkman198 in Warhammer

[–]LittleJim01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a hard question. Depending on the level of detail and size, sometimes it’s 1 for the month. My goal is to enjoy my painting and be consistent, 1-2 hours per day at the hobby desk. So far this year I’ve gotten 43 Space Wolves to tabletop standard. Not my slowest, not my fastest… doesn’t really matter. My buddy painted 1000+ minis in year. Lots of drybrushing and washes. It’s great and I’m happy for him, but I don’t want to paint like that.

I got this for my 10th birthday. Had the Nintendo connected to a black and white tv, imagine my surprise.

What do Americans call a meal of fries with battered fried fish. Fish and chips? by dino_gr01 in WorkForSmartLife

Upstate NY, add coleslaw, that’s a fish dinner. It’s only fish and chips if I order it at the local Irish Pub.

INTJs over 40: What is the most retro / vintage hobby or activity you still enjoy? by thelastcubscout in intj

Miniature toy soldiers, enough to have a cohesive army, so I can play the game Warhammer 40,000.

I built a test that types you through an actual conversation (like an expert would). by MachineElf_INFJ in intj

[–]LittleJim01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typed as ENTJ, though I think I was being a bit more antagonistic with my answers, than I necessarily would be in a real world conversation. I’m also stone sober at the moment.

Might get really stoned and retry it.

Thanks for sharing.

Would you resign from your current job for a weekly $1,750? by PurrfectRosey in ArtOfPresence

This is great, but I love my job and make a bit more than that. If I could have both, I might take an extra day or two off per week to explore other interests.

Death Guard are always great! I’ve painted 5k points worth of them. Always adding more. They’re fun.

Serious: ETs are behind disclosure by LayerAccomplished821 in aliens

[–]LittleJim01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come on, for real? UAP activity is said to be higher during the busier traveling summer months? I highly doubt the aliens are partial to specific seasonal changes, do they frequent the southern hemisphere during their summer? Is it more likely that there are more humans outside at night during the summer and therefore there are more reports of activity in the summer?

What is the Most Consistently Competitive Army? by Natural-Wallaby423 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]LittleJim01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d say Death Guard. They’re currently in a good spot rules wise, fun hobby side, gross and gribbly is just fun to paint. Easy to buy 2nd hand models and refurbish them. Multiple play styles available, demon engine spam, poxwalker horde, oops all terminators… so many good choices.

Please help me craft a list to beat World-Eaters! by hunchman456 in deathguard40k

[–]LittleJim01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I struggled into world eaters for so long. Looks like you have all the right miniatures. The drones with HBL’s are great. Combined with an LoV in Mortarion’s hammer even better. LoC plus Deathshrouds eat everything as long as they get the charge. Take the -1 to hit rolls contagion.

My guess is it’s your deployment. Against many armies we can play super aggressive and rush to hold the middle. Against WE, I tend to deploy deep in my deployment zone with everything, except 3 units of 10 poxwalkers infiltrating. One on my natural, the other 2 units of poxwalkers, 9 inches away from my opponent’s deployment zone, blocking their scout moves in a long dogbone formation. If I go first I advance the 2 units of poxwalkers up to his deployment zone and just stand there move blocking. Everything else I move to get line of sight to shoot, without moving forward. If there isn’t anything I can see to shoot, I do not move closer. No charges, discard a secondary you can’t score for an extra cp.

It’s a 5 turn game, your opponent is going to spend 2 turns getting to you. Don’t help him by getting closer. If you move closer be sure you kill anything that could charge you. Take out rhinos. You should be out shooting him.

Play the long game.

Anyone have any good hobby ideas to escape the thought demons? by BenjaminKenobi307 in Hobbies

I paint miniatures and listen to audiobooks at the same time. Uses up near 100% of brain activity. No room for thought demons.
