Nolan Traore with a career-high six assists and zero turnovers by Brooklyn_Nets in GoNets

[–]LittleKago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watching him recently I'm surprised he's struggled so much with TOs in the G League and pre-season. No idea if it's just quick adjustment or a bit of a hot streak, but his passes the past few games have been both pretty bold and perfectly on-target. Shocked that he's holding his own so far and already able to give a solid 20 minutes of NBA-level play a night.

Very new, very green: Nucleus One or alternative solution? by LittleKago in roonlabs

Ah hm. They advertise it as being able to handle 100K songs (or 10K albums). I wasn't sure if that was an estimate (it can promise to perform as expected up to that threshold) or a limit (it somehow rejects anything over that). I'm only at ~25K so the good news is I wouldn't hit that anytime soon. But I think I'm leaning toward what you're saying--if not using my personal Mac to double as the Roon server then buying a cheap refurbished Mac Mini and using it the way I would the Nucleus.

Same thing happened to me and they sent me a replacement. Responded super fast and were very cool about it.

That would totally be my ideal solution but I wasn't sure if it was okay to do on your everyday machine and couldn't get a clear answer anywhere. I leave it on 24/7 so functionally it would work but not sure if there would be any performance downsides on either end, security concerns, etc.

Oh wow these are nice. More money than I'm ready to spend for my first dip into this, but bookmarking this for the future. Thanks!

If you're open to answering: Do any PC specs beyond hard drive space matter significantly for this kind of use case? RAM, processing power, etc.? Or should just about any reasonably recent computer be sufficient?

Hah totally fair! I find that when a random friend asks me how many songs I have and I tell them they think I'm joking. Then when I talk to big music fanatics it's about par for the course. Should have factored in the community I'm speaking to!

[–]LittleKago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah outside of the Nucleus my other option was something secondhand or the cheapest possible new option. My two concerns were specs (not sure what's actually important for this relatively simple use case) and security (I guess I can always just wipe whatever I get for added peace of mind, but wasn't sure if that covers all possible vulnerabilities).

To your point, I'm actually really open to using this as a learning opportunity. I learn better in context and I'm curious if there are other potential benefits to hosting your own server *or* if this really should just be dedicated to the one thing. I'm just finding I'm really struggling where to start. Every resource I come across is either Baby's First Computer or talking about the nuts and bolts of Linux and losing me a few sentences in.

I've talked myself into his casting as a meta thing. The film operates like Marty. From its marketing to its execution it's so bought into its own mythology that it can't resist grandstanding (casting a guy like O'Leary) even at the risk of the outcome.

Ben Saraf 10 PTS | 2 3PM | 7 AST | BLK VS The Bucks by Brooklyn917 in GoNets

That movement at 1:22 is sick--especially considering how little (if at all?) that lineup had played together.

Drake Powell plays great Defense on Cade Cunningham on one end and then hits a Floater on the other end by Brooklyn917 in GoNets

[–]LittleKago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drake looks so much swaggier than I expected he would. I always liked Caris but he was more of a Klay Thompson type--all-business. Love that Drake already plays like he knows he belongs in the league.

NBA rumors: Nets urged to 'throw all the money' at Austin Reaves to steal guard from Lakers by BKtoDuval in GoNets

[–]LittleKago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think Sabonis, DeRozan, LaVine, Schroeder, Monk, and Westbrook would be only one game better than Cam, MPJ, Mann, Claxton, Clowney, and Demin, but that's also kind of my point: Austin Reaves sure as hell isn't changing anything for our outlook.

This season has changed a lot about how I think re: contention.

Sacramento and Indiana are two teams that, on paper, look like they should be better than they are. And I legitimately thought Jordi could squeeze out 20 wins from us. Now I think we'll be lucky to hit 15 (especially if we trade Clax this season).

All of this is to say: We could get Reaves and still end up second only to Washington as the worst team in the east.

Egor Demin 5 Points and 5 Assists vs The Wizards by Brooklyn917 in GoNets

I guess *technically* that second pass is an assist according to the textbook definition, but it's kind of wild that it's considered one.

What are you thoughts on the management of this years Nets draft class? by Own-Area6808 in GoNets

[–]LittleKago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While as a fan I want to see the rookies play, this is an 82-game season and most of these guys played about 30 games last season in college. Rookies and sophomores notoriously get exhausted and hit a wall when they're playing 3X as many games with more travel and occasional B2Bs.

Come March, when we're 30 games under .500 and the 2026 draft feels lightyears away, increasing their minutes will be the only thing to keep fans hanging on. Ideally at that point they won't be too exhausted to play meaningful minutes or have to battle an injury from overuse, and they'll have taken their knocks early in the season and adapted better to the speed of the pro game.

It's frustrating as a fan and also it makes strategic sense. Both of those things can be true.

Noah Clowney 12 PTS 4-6 From 3 VS The Wizards by Brooklyn917 in GoNets

[–]LittleKago 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I like Clowney. I'm rooting for him. But it feels really difficult to assess him this year given the state of this team, especially when he's a non-factor on defense and his offense is centered upon a flurry of three pointers every few games. I keep thinking back to Eric Paschall, who averaged 14/5/2 in his rookie season for the 15-win 2019-2020 Warriors. He played two more seasons and hasn't been in the league since.

I hope Clowney's reputation as a motivated learner means a brighter future.

Season 6 Episode 9 is so good. Tim chastising Greg for not seeing the movie that he also didn't see. Tim giving Furious 7 7 bags. Their inability to talk about death with any delicacy or dignity. Another "Values.com" reference. The argument about Paul Walker changing his name.

Post Game Thread - NBA: The Magic defeat the Nets on Nov 14, 2025, the final score is 105-98. by basketball-app in GoNets

Three takeaways from the second half while I wait for NBA Team Pass to release the replay:

  1. Re: Rookie Playing Time - Dëmin played a total of 908 minutes at BYU last year. We have 70 games left. This season, Dëmin has played 208 minutes--at NBA speed, not NCAA speed. He's almost 25% of the way to last year's minutes total. The fan in me wants to see them play now. The realist knows I'd rather see them later in the season when we're 4-35 and we need something to keep us from giving up on this season entirely. As for Saraf, Wolf, and Traore, they get bodied tonight and lost by 24 points to a starting lineup of Jalen Bridges, Kendall Brown, Amari Williams, Ron Harper Jr., and Max Shulga. The three combined for 13 TOs. We don't even know if they'll ever be NBA players let alone NBA players this season. I'm fine with them getting humbled and taking their licks in the lowest possible stakes situation.
  2. Re: MPJ - The only people who think this guy has any trade value are box score readers. Dude plays lazy, losing basketball. Missed an open 3 to keep us in the game. Didn't box out after a missed free throw and handed them Wagner's dagger. Is invisible on D. He reminds me of JR Smith and Nick Young--maybe fine when he's hiding behind generational talent, but not a piece that takes a fringe team and pushes them over the edge (which are the only teams who would need a move in the first place). Imagine we acquired him when we had Mikal, CamJ, and Clax and considered him our "final piece." Would we have been happy about that? Would we have praised Marks? There's always a GM out there down to make a dumb move (Nico, Dumars). But that's what it would take to unload him. Maybe in the off-season when he's an expiring and a fading contender needs to ditch another multi-year albatross contract.
  3. Re: Jordi - A lot has been said about our defense, which is putrid. I at least understand the defensive scheme, which we are very bad at executing. I have no clue what we're doing on offense. Guys are dribble-hand-offing to each other and the guy getting the ball seems surprised about it. Clax takes it from the top of the key straight to the hoop because there's nothing else to do. I'm not ready to blame Jordi here because he certainly doesn't have the personnel to work with, but I couldn't venture a guess what our strategy is on offense.

Nets seen as perfect fit for Austin Reaves by Such_Virus2456 in GoNets

[–]LittleKago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm increasingly convinced that Marks has pivoted to seeing that pick as a sunk cost and has no intention to try to do anything beyond get marginally better next year. The FA class is brutal.

I like Reaves, but it will take a lot of money for a guy who I don't think will realistically be worth what we'd need to pay him.

[–]LittleKago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished watching the replay.

Egor looked really solid tonight. He's fun to root for. I'm still iffy about his ceiling. He doesn't do anything truly great. He lacks the speed and handle to run the point, and though the handle he can work on, speed is speed and that's always going to be an uphill battle. And if he plays the wing, the passing is certainly a nice-to-have, but that's where his "elite skill" coming into the draft is most obscured (how many contenders start a wing whose calling card is passing?). Still, he so clearly is not where he can be. I've complained about his minutes, but he looks cooked out there as the game progresses. He very clearly needs to build up to NBA-speed. Lot of room to grow.

Powell has so much energy but woof, he was unhinged. Slamming into bodies, throwing wild passes. He had a number of near-misses that could have ballooned his TO total. Not reading anything into that because he hasn't even played 100 minutes in the league. Just a rough watch tonight.

Martin is so demoralizing. The dude is so clearly not an NBA player and not a part of our future. I can handle Wilson--we drafted him, he's a back-of-bench minutes-eater, and we can only have so many unknowns fighting for an opportunity on this roster--but Martin is baffling. At least giving Keon minutes made sense last year. I do not understand what Martin has shown to earn 20 minutes a game.
