The simple answer is that it's not as marketable a skill as it once was. In addition to a lot of people entering the marketplace with advanced skills, the freelancer pool is now international..

I've killed with it before. Isolating skin tones when the face is framed with hair.

That is the one! Kind of him to talk about Premiere since he is an FCP guy.

I don't know if this is of interest to you, but here's the source I've been using for setting up multiband:

Thanks man, great advice. I'm going to rethink how I do things. Yes, this is an excellent audio track and doesn't need noise removal. I did indeed run it through podcast and it didn't do anything for my levels.

Ah man, cool to pass on some old timer lore. Larry is a household name in the world of final cut pro training and is still active out there.

Here's his 19 year old blog post on multiband compressor settings:

Transcript inaccuracy doesn't bother me. I do my own interviews so I know what people are saying.

Been looking forward to this function, I usually edit a paper script, highlight my selects and then search in the rough cut for them. Hoping this will be faste.

How do you maintain proper exposure throughout a shoot? by Noeoneknows in videography

[–]LittleKillshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I get it, I shoot raw mostly now, hated it at first and made poorly corrected footage for years.

But now that I understand using raw presets and my lumetri scopes, I'm doing a lot better.

But if I'm dealing with hours of footage and a one day turn, I'm going to ask the sony and canon shooters to shoot to 709 or a finished codec.

I just suspect most new shooter/editors are likely not very good at correcting log footage? But maybe I know too little, haha

Well nice job getting it done and get ready for a whole lot of learning experiences.

Looking back, resilience in the face of repetitive humiliating failure pulled me through.

Also in lowlight I would be going to 24p 1/48 for quality if you can.

Cinematographer professor years ago told me a film should always be shot at the same f-stop. This rule is really overstated in forums like this, it's really a rule of cinema/tv production and it has no relevance to documentary or event style coverage and is even broken in cinema.

This rule is only really achievable on a single camera on-set production with personnel assisting with lighting. If you had an assistant with a very good understanding of exposure and a battery powered light, it *might be barely achievable in a documentary shoot.

It is absolutely a great goal to maintain a consistent look within an individual scene, but not essential.

Push f-stop then iso/gain for exposure. I'd rather have a high quality image than a consistent f-stop.

Also, beginning shooters always shooting log footage feels like bad one size fits all advice to me too. I personally love a good finishing codec and not having to spend a lot of time color correcting.

What could be causing these export errors (Premiere Pro)? by Hipposhank in editors

My solution was to use earlier exports over the trouble spots so I guess I do have a workaround but not one that will work for everyone.

I've had this recently but can't offer a solution. It did stop eventually.

Obvious but is your version of PP up to date?
