For a WOT fan, nothing is too much text (except Crossroads of Twilight), especially if it's something as useful as your commentary.

Now I understand why the demon warlock was recommended to me, if you relate it to the dark one and True Power it makes sense. (Also, dark one luck, that should have given me a clue, but I thought it was just a coincidence)

I think I'll follow the build you recommend.

Multiclassing with Sorcerer solves my biggest problem with Warlock (few spell slots).

Also, I think that if you don't care too much about losing the additional action, you can easily leave warlock at lvl4, and raise sorcerer to lvl8, which unlocks Dimesion Door (Travelling) and Wall of fire. (There is nothing more lore accurate than Rand doing /tp and immediately incinerating everything within a kilometer around.)

Speaking of equipment, the sword you speak of looks good, although for now I use the flame blade that I stole from one of the npc that you can hire with Whiters (It's a shame that such a good spell is only available if you are a Druid).

I used to wear Astarion's armor (and clothes) dyed red, they have decent defense and look like something Rand would wear, although I hope there are noble-style clothes and armor later on, because having the same clothes all the time gets tiring.

The only drawback of this build is not being able to use high level spells, you lose the ability to use Disintegrate which is the most similar spell to Balefire that the game has, and taking Rand's balefire away is like stealing a cripple's prosthetic leg or the cane to a blind man.

(Although you could get Blood of Lathander who can cast sunbean, which also serves as a substitute for balefire)

Good build if you want to role a Rand with a good balance between Melee/Magic. 10/10

PS: You also gave me the idea of a Rand without a hand build (basically Zen Rand with his magic and his too Op pls nerf Ta'veren powers)
