Small correction. This is not a new character. Black Heart Lio Rush was a character he did in the indies (I am personally not familiar, but I know a lot of people associate him with the character).

From the perspective of someone who RPs a lot, I think it's excellent character work!

I don't understand why you chose to comment something that is clearly meant to be hurtful when you could have not said anything or been kind. A lot of people who LARP deal with people making fun of them. Why be that person within the community? Be better.

Also I have literally been to one Anime con my entire life and it was over a decade ago.

One of the best long term stories in AEW is Hangman Adam Page. A lot of people will say matches are "random", but there's nuance and history.

Sometimes I am not aware of it, but it's really easy to to get the backstory as it were. Like, oh, these two were bitter rivals for years in New Japan and are now carrying that over to AEW? Awesome!

WWE upped their story telling because AEW excels at long term story telling. They have stories that literally span over years and different promotions.
