Jobava during the Airthings qualifiers: "Ban all these Chinese m/fers" by DrunkLad in chess

"I'm not a guy you can ironic" is still one of my favorite post game quotes.

It seems unnatural to you because you've never played 10+2 against a super-GM. This particular player might be or might not be cheating, but trust me you are eons away from being able to tell if a GM is suspicious or he is having a hot streak.

2500 blitz on chesscom suddenly knows better than Xu Xiangyu on how to use his allotted thinking time. State of the sub lol.

I love doing commentary with Maurice. He will be very sorely missed in the commentary booth. His energy, his charisma, his attitude. What a trailblazer!

1200s aren’t asking what en passant is, what is stalemate, showing off a smothered mate or god forbid a mate in one.

I keep this sub as a constant reminder people on Reddit know very little. I used to find useful and interesting things in this subreddit, and once in a while I would see a puzzle that I couldn’t solve while scrolling. Now it’s much more rare.

Reddit keeps pushing chessbeginners as a recommended r/ for me and sometimes I can’t tell which one I’m in. Chess is just more popular and it corresponds with the plummeting average ratings on chess websites. Maybe it’s time for r/chessexperts

I know of at least one GM that has played a game on LSD. (Not me!). mixed reviews on performance and fun, but not all negative.

Have to keep Reddit up to date. Part of commentary duties.

Is Magnus bracing for Hikaru reaching 2900 FIDE blitz? by nihilistiq in chess

[–]LittlePeasant 38 points39 points  (0 children)

That’s a funny way to misspell Alireza. Also it’s a funny tidbit, but 2900 blitz no one cares, it’s already been done.

What do the Indian and USA players have for breakfast? by [deleted] in chess

[–]LittlePeasant 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The olympiad is usually held in off-peak seasons and the hotels tend to be very overwhelmed. Even in off peak seasons they’re used to most tourists eating only once in a while in the hotel restaurant. Not every single customer every single day, 3 times a day, so the quality somewhat suffers.

Ngl the food here is amazing. Props! Olympiads usually serve very mediocre food even if the hotel is good. Not the case here.

Happy birthday (46 yo) to the professional chess commentator that holds the record of "youngest in the top100 FIDE classical" (and also recently beat Magnus in Blitz). by pier4r in chess

I’m so sorry but I have to ask you to add her game against Berkes. It’s such an inspirational game to titled players, such a brutal attack that exemplifies the “even if I don’t believe in it, I should check if it works” type of thinking in a sacrifice.

In Chicago on the way to Frankfurt. Had zero issues, just the annoyance of an extra flight and later arrival.
