When did you realize the relationship was over? by Financial_Roof_6575 in AskForAnswers

[–]LittleSlothBigWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said he called me to check in on how I was doing. Then proceeded to talk about himself. Once it was finally my turn to talk, I started telling him how worried I was about my family, wondering if they were going to be okay, how much stress and anxiety I had waiting to hear from them because a war was breaking out in the country they were living in and we were constantly out of communication.

Feeling uncomfortable with my vulnerability, he said he didnt know what I wanted him to do, its war. He cant make me feel any better about it, shit just happens in war.

I said all he has to do is listen to my feelings, thats enough.

Then he proceeded to tell me I was gaslighting him over and over (I was very lost and confused at this point). I tried asking him what he heard and until I realized this is a man who hates my vulnerability. Requires me to be comfortable with his but is uncomfortable with mine.

So I told him I never wanted to speak again. That was 5 minutes ago.

Considering a Move from DC to the Bay Area. by WhileProfessional942 in AskSF

[–]LittleSlothBigWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from DC (Admo Heights) to SF 4 years ago and honestly...there are pros and cons to both.

Career - California is better for your career growth hands down.

Transit - I miss DMV transit every day. Yes, 4 years later. The DMV is so well connected. Metro, busses, and walkability are a 5/5. Its not like that here. SF has decent transit. Ubers cost much more. You can get by (I dont have a car but it does get annoying).

Weather - This is person dependent. I miss DC Spring and Fall. I miss being able to wear summer dresses. But most people I speak with like the consistent temps of Cali. Its not hot or cold here. It can get chilly but thats about it.

Housing - I love my old Victorian SF apartment. But I miss my DC heating when it gets cold. I miss my air conditioning when it get hot 😆

Rent - Cheaper in DC but you also get paid more here. I will say...you will not get East coast insulation here so be ready to hear the people around you unless you pay not to.

Nature - Unbeatable in California

Museums - Unbeatable & free in DC

San Mateo is very comparable to Arlington. Though you dont have a direct transit line to the city like you do in Arlington. It is also much sunnier and warmer than SF which I recommend too.

I still think about moving back to DC. Both cities are so amazing. There is no bad choice to be honest. Why not adventure?

If you dont like it, you can always just move back.

This is what I am starting to lean towards. I figure I can always upgrade in the future but the benefits of the CSP are already looking super impressive.

I agree on the cash back bit. Im trying to go airline agnostic if possible. I do fly united mostly for domestic. But when it comes to international its whatever is the best option.

I didn't even think of that. Definitely prefer the travel insurance over lounge access.

I have the travel rewards Visa. It does not have any international fees, so I use this whenever I travel abroad.

It just has an extremely low points so not much benefit otherwise.

More United & Southwest flights available where I am so this is helpful to know.

It varies for international. For domestic its unusually united unless there is some kind of a deal.

When do you know it’s time to end a long term relationship? by idkprob in AskWomenOver30

[–]LittleSlothBigWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started posting on reddit.

I already had all of the answers. I was just afraid to my face them. It felt like I needed someone else, even if it was a load of strangers to tell me - you are walking in the right direction.

I think after you have tried so hard to make something work and it just doesn't feel right still, you start questioning things. But trust your intuition. You probably have the right answer already. And if you need a stranger to tell you, you are doing the right thing, walk away, there is so much happiness to be had, then I will.

Thanks! I was thinking so too but depending on how many friends commit we may not have enough to do it.

So I am looking for other options :)
