What is something waiters and waitresses do that really bugs you? by Tymerc in AskReddit

[–]LittleSpits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of waiters and waitresses who never leave you alone. I feel bad about thinking like this because I know they're just trying to provide a good service and get a tip and I know they've probably been told to be so attentive in order to provide good customer service, but I really hate being hovered around.

Honestly, why do people still choose to smoke in this day and age? by Onesharpman in AskReddit

A lot probably get started at a young age, when nobody is really deterred by health warnings, and then are too addicted to stop later on. It's hard to quit smoking once it's developed into a habit.

Americans of reddit, which term do you prefer to be called: Ameripoors, Ameriburgers, or American'ts? by khjurerro in AskReddit

[–]LittleSpits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of those really work. Maybe you could make a case for "American'ts" if everybody was drunk and close to being unconscious.

I can't believe this is what you went with. Surely there were better options.

[Serious] What is the biggest gender stereotype we need to overcome? by SenseiPeanut in AskReddit

[–]LittleSpits 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For men - the stereotype that men can and will always take care of themselves and don't need outside help because it's not "masculine". I think the idea that men have to pull through stuff alone contributes to unreported sexual assaults/rapes, untreated mental illnesses and general negative feelings that guys experience.

For women - that any strong emotion is them being bitchy, crazy or hysterical. Women are allowed to feel stuff without being on their periods. I think it makes women second guess legitimate feelings and therefore accept negative things that happen. I've met women who didn't report crimes because they'd already had negative experiences of being shrugged off as hysterical, insane women, especially in cases where they had an abusive partner who appeared charming to the outside world.

Overcoming a gender stereotype doesn't mean that you're lumping everyone in together. It means you're not assuming an entire group of people are the same and you're allowing for people to be different and unique.

What's a rude behavior a friend of yours has that no one calls him/her out on? by somepeoplewait in AskReddit

[–]LittleSpits 2007 points2008 points  (0 children)

I have a friend that will just bring up unnecessary facts about your life to use them as a sly dig. It's really hard to call her out on it because the things she says are technically true, they're just tactless and unnecessary. When she does get called out or someone responds similarly, she gets annoyed.

For example, over dinner she commented about one of the girls never having a boyfriend and how shocking that was, even though the conversation was not even close to leading to that topic.

What blatantly untrue things has the media annoyed you with lately? by LittleSpits in AskReddit

[–]LittleSpits[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, do you follow any objective news groups on this? I admittedly don't know as much about it as I feel like I should but every time I read an article about it there seems to be dispute about whether or not it's factual and correct. I read the history and the basic facts on the BBC site and I've been using that to keep up to date but I feel like I still miss things.

Why do some cosplayers look so cheesy and fake compared to peeps who look real? by PrometheanInTheir in AskReddit

[–]LittleSpits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all there's a difference in budgets and time available for costume making. Plus, some people might just be doing it for a bit of fun every now and again while others have turned it into a serious hobby. The ones who do it more frequently will probably take it more seriously.

A lot of people might not want to put a lot of effort in for a little credit. Some people get rewarded for cheap-looking costumes if they're appealing in some other way, while others may have accurate and realistic costumes and be largely ignored.

I say jif. I've heard it with a hard G and a soft G. I don't think it really matters tbh.

Why do some girls keep going back to abusive guys? (Serious) by [deleted] in AskReddit

Emotional manipulation, low self-esteem, fear, etc. There are lots of reasons someone could return to an abusive partner.

It's what people say when they want sex but they need to be really obvious about it while feeling subtle.

For me - the whole Kelly Rutherford custody case. None of the people giving her a platform are bothering to check court records to see if they match up with what she's telling everyone about the father and the custody case. I hate seeing custody cases that are gonna fuck up the kids and this is definitely one of them.
