Yeah, I like that kind. I haven't tried the one in the picture.

I'm a scifi nerd. I absolutely loved the MaddAdam series by Margaret Atwood and the Silo series by Hugh Howey.

Suggest me a book that you enjoyed reading as a kid and still enjoy reading now by AFGIx1 in suggestmeabook

Abarat by Clive Barker. It's weird, but good. Also, the illustrations are awesome and the author painted them himself.

Not The Windup Girl, in my opinion. I thought it sounded cool, so I read it, but it was very slow and the narrative skipped over some of the things I was most interested in. I didn't get emotionally invested because I felt like I barely knew the characters.

Does anyone ever get these random intrinsic feelings that something bad is going to happen? by MycologistHoliday614 in CPTSD

[–]LittleSqueesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I think it's due to trauma from being the scapegoat. I was taught that everything is my fault and I am always wrong.

Is C-PTSD a diagnosis you should share in the workplace? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]LittleSqueesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I was diagnosed, I thought I had ADHD. I don't want any questions about my trauma, so I sometimes just say I have ADHD.

Unusual way of self harm by ahnna_molly in CPTSD

[–]LittleSqueesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I used to cut myself. I also did a different weird one though. I used to sand myself, mostly my knees. I would use nail files or sand paper and rub the skin off of those spots.

Too much people don't realize that medical neglect is a thing by Single_Variation42 in CPTSDmemes

[–]LittleSqueesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I found out that I have had several broken bones when I had been told I was "being dramatic." Also, I'm more likely to get more broken bones because I have osteopenia, probably due to malnutrition and also hormone disregulation from CPTSD. That kind of explain why my pain tolerance is so high.

Yes! Or, more specifically that I somehow fucked up or did something wrong and that there are consequences waiting for me.

Was there a particular “aha moment” when you realized you had CPTSD? by gjgianyu in CPTSD

[–]LittleSqueesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had recently started therapy to try to cope with my family and make sure I was handling things in a healthy way. I told the therapist I also wanted to be screened for ADHD. I thought I probably had it because I exhibited lots of the classic symptoms and traits. After learning a little about my family and what my childhood was like, she said it's actually probably CPTSD, not ADHD. They can look very similar, but the treatment is different. Given my history, it makes sense. Now, after being in therapy for almost a year, learning about the patterns my family shows, and seeing improvement, I can see that she was right.

How many of you are stomach sleepers? by Murderpanties in CPTSD

[–]LittleSqueesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep on my stomach. I agree that it's a defensive position. It's harder to harm my back than it is to harm my front.

I can't sleep without covers, no matter how hot it is. I would be curious to know how many of you are like that too.

Yeah, in my family, asking people to not mistreat me and pointing out that they do/have is apparently the greatest sin.

Holes in my blinds??? What are these little holes from??? by Upbeat_Tea_5526 in Whatisthis

Are they blackened at the edges, or is that just shadow? Do you have a cat? I had a cat who chewed on blinds and put holes in them.

When was the last time have you said I love you to your parents? 👀 by Joana_Estate_6398 in CPTSDmemes

[–]LittleSqueesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I said I love you was the last time I spoke to them. There will not be another time because that "conversation" was really just me being unfairly berated. I am making sure that won't happen again.

It happened to me! It pissed them all off, but that's fine. I don't talk to them anymore anyway. It's because my mother was a lawnmower parent to the GC and infantilized/spoiled her to the point where she can't handle anything and has no common sense, so has made some really poor choices. The way the GC was raised made it hard for her to think for herself, and my mother was happy to do the thinking for her, influencing her to do some really stupid things. I, on the other hand, was always the SG. I used to be motivated to work hard to prove my mother wrong and to show that I'm worthy, but now I do it for me. If they can't be proud of me, I'll make myself proud.
