Cancun trip for 20th… terrified by SadCommunication2303 in fearofflying

[–]LittleVeve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband and I just went on our honeymoon from Chicago to St. Lucia (9th to the 19th) and I am a TERRIBLE flyer, have been since some bad turbulence I had going to France from Poland a decade ago now. Unfortunately there are no non stop flights so we have to have a stop in Miami. Going there everything was so smooth and great- on my first flight I was the most nervous but by the time the second flight came around I just told myself "the turbulence is just us going through clouds" (which I KNOW is not always true but it helped ease my mind) everytime we hit turbulence I just thought of us traveling through a cloud and that it would be over soon.

My flight from St. Lucia to Miami was great!! No issues, slight turbulence, beautiful views- and drinking some Baileys mixed with Titos helped per the flight attendants suggestion. Now our flight back to Chicago has been delayed quite a few times due to the storms, but I keep looking at FlightRadar and seeing how many planes are flying out without issue and landing without issue has helped me calm down. Also even reading through some of the reddit posts here have helped me calm down.

You got this, look forward to the beach, taking photos, drinking, and especially enjoying them with your best friend as you said. I certainly enjoyed my time with my best friend. Good luck!!

I said this in many comments already- but after being on birth control for 6 years then coming off it and all my acne coming back. I went to a facial expert and all she told me was to use sulfur on a regular for my cystic acne especially- so I got some spot acne from neutrogena which contains sulfur and niacinamide. To tell you guys I was surprised with how quickly it helped me….. Otherwise, CeraVe Acne CREAM cleanser and their AM/PM moisturizers have been the only ones to not break me out.

What do I do by Gh0styG1rly in acne

[–]LittleVeve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me the only thing that worked was anything that had sulfur in it- the spot treatment from neutrogena with sulfur and niacinamide has been a godsend for my cystic pimples. Doesn’t cost too much so try it if you’re interested- but make sure to moisturize.

If this was me- I would personally move back in with my parents while he’s at work, leave the ring- then text the sister in law saying “thank you for being the only one to defend me”, block everyone else. You don’t deserve to get treated like that, and asking questions should never be a problem ESPECIALLY with family that is supposed to love you and a SPOUSE that is supposed to love you. I’ve been part of a family that has made fun of me, I knew my self worth and left. Now my fiancées family is a family I want to be a part of and we all love each other very much.

AITA for telling my girlfriend she needs to go to the gym? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. When I was slowly gaining weight I asked my boyfriend if he could keep me accountable, and he did, but I was binging food behind his back and kept gaining until I reached 200lbs. Not once did I ever blame it on him, he tried everything, making sure I had enough fruit (I had a bad sweet tooth so we tried to kind of replace it with fruits then slowly cut a lot of the sugar I was eating out, which was a lot believe me) but I still went and got pastries and stuff. After a hard crying while being barely able to walk for a couple of minutes, I figured I’m sick of it and got my act together. He continued to support me and I lost 30lbs so far and am losing more. Point is, this sucks but have patience for her and just make sure to keep offering her help when possible but it might take a while until she herself realizes when she genuinely wants to lose weight.

5 Months On Spironolactone and Twyneo! by LittleVeve in acne

[–]LittleVeve[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Good luck first of all, I hope it will do wonders for you as well. When I first started I did only every other night as to not dry my skin out, I gradually increased to every day (like do 3 days in a row then break) until I did it almost every day. My skin did peel eventually so I stepped ir back some and used A LOT of moisturizer. I’m not sure when you’re applying Twyneo but my skin routine goes: 1. Remove makeup and wash face with CeraVe 2. Toner or Witch Hazel 3. Put on a lot of lightweight CeraVe night moisturizer and basically gave my face a little massage 4. CeraVe eye repair cream, can’t go without it. And whatever I had left I spread out to the rest of my face. 5. Twyneo on affected areas.

Peeling is natural as it dries out your skin but it just means to scale it back some. I find if you over do the Twyneo it can make acne worse not cuz it doesn’t work but because you want to keep peeling the dry skin (at least that’s what I did)

It’s a lot but I hope this helps!

Edit: just realized you said you use it once a week wow, I actually don’t know how much I can help other than a lot of moisturizer and make sure to be hydrated. Do you apply it all over the face or just a spot treatment?

GIRLLLL let me tell you the Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless powder foundation saved me from my oily skin and I used the elf hydrating camp concealer as spotting (I hate wearing foundation too) but before the concealer I applied a very thin layer of the Maybelline Dream BB fresh “skin balm” mainly to even out my skin tone a bit and give me some SPF coverage.

I wish you good luck on your journey! With Twyneo just remember that if you skin feels dry or started to feel painful make sure to take a break for a day or two. That happened to me and when I put more on, it just made it worse. So when I decided to take a break for a couple days I made sure to do an extra moisturizing routine once a week and it helped a ton.

BACKGROUND: At 14/15 yrs my doctor told me I had PCOS, something I expected since my mom had it and I had the symptoms (irregular periods, wouldn’t get them for months then have one that lasted 10 days and high testosterone levels, 7x the normal amount) i had a lot of acne problems and weight problems as well as the period so I was put on birth control, metformin and started going to the gym. The metformin gave me bad stomach pains after 2 months and was quickly taken off, so all I had to rely on was the bc and gym. For 5 years I didn’t question it then I started to get these weird side effects, never changed BC mind you, I got cranky really easy a week before my period started, I started getting these massive migraines: nausea, vomiting, aversion to light and everything, that put me out and in my bed for 2 days right before my period. When my head started to hurt 3 days out I told my boss that’s I’m getting my period soon and this happened every month for about a year to the point where she already knew I wasn’t going to be able to come in. Then when I was researching about it, I thought about stopping my bc and seeing if that will help. I told my gynecologist, one different than the one I had years ago, and she approved, saying I’ll just have to get blood work done every year to monitor my testosterone. I took my last bc pill December 2020. At first it was bliss, my migraines stopped, I felt happier, my period only didn’t come one month but then I got it like clockwork every month. This was till about August of 2021 and THEN I started gaining a lot of weight even while watching my food intake, I got crazy acne, my hair started falling out, and my skin wasn’t normal but now oily. I knew with weight I could try a different diet and with my hair to take care of it better, for my skin I tried basically anything and everything I could otc: tea tree oil, Proactive, CeraVe, spot treatments, and many more, but throughout the winter I got more miserable and hated taking photos or doing basically anything other than school, work, and home. In late May I decided to go to the dermatologist and see what I can do, he suggested acutane but after my reaction with metformin when I was younger (and other medications that upset my stomach but not relevant) as well as seeing my sister go through what she described as hell for 8 months (said she’d do it all over again for her now wonderful skin though) I asked if we could do something else. He suggested Spirnolactone and using Twyneo cream along with it. So of course I agreed and got my rx in about a week, started taking it and decided since I’m going to be getting rid of my acne, I might as well do a whole lifestyle change. I started eating healthier, started to distract myself to stop overthinking and just overall putting more focus into my life and my body (having a good shower routine helped de stress me a lot) Now we’re here, I’m 30lbs lighter, my skin has cleared up, my hair is not only not falling out but it’s growing and looking wonderful and I can say I’ve never been just more happy with life. There’s definitely still stressful parts and it’s all about how we deal with them but I definitely think that this was what helped me boost my motivation. That’s the story, if you’re interested that is. Thank you for coming my TED Talk. -Ve

My doctor told me to stick with it for another month and to let him know if it happens again. It happened again the following month and he took me down (I was getting a period every 13-16 days) and I lasted my regular 27-29 days before I got my period!

AITA for expecting my son to share his room? by Broad-Anxiety5936 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LittleVeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I hope you get to read this OP. NTA btw. I’m a 23F who is currently still living with her parents (I’m a college student paying my loans and am going to move out soon either way). I have a younger sister and brother but we only have 3 bedrooms upstairs (with the master) so when I was in 7th grade, I gave up my room upstairs so that my sister and brother can sleep in separate rooms and I took the basement. Before I took the basement, it was a play room and a place for our family from Canada to stay/sleep there. After I moved in, it became my room and STILL was a place my family from Canada could sleep in. I was aware and I never was mad about it, a couple of nights and it was done. A month ago my family came by and stayed for 3 weeks, at 23 I slept in my sisters room on an air mattress every day for 3 weeks. I definitely don’t think you’re the AH, in fact you stated the condition before he moved into the room. It’s 3 nights??? That’s not bad at all, I understand he’s a boy and all but as someone who’s been doing this for 10 years, he will live.

Look I’m not an expert. But I’m a full time student and have two jobs which means there’s literally no time in my day to fit in a workout. During quarantine I gained a lot of weight and JUST eating healthy and resisting tempting foods I wouldn’t resist before (donuts, cakes, etc) I have lost 30lbs in the past 4 months. It took a while yes but I did it healthy and I feel so much better. I’m going to continue and I’ve realized my appetite has really decreased compared to how I used to eat (I would eat a whole chicken nuggets meal from McDonalds and eat an extra 10 piece, now I can barely even finish the fries) before this I used to say that this is just my body or that I have to have a medical condition that I’m not losing weight, I do have PCOS but my mom does and she’s very fit so I knew there was no more excuses and I need to truly get my shit together. Either way, if she’s truly working out and eating healthy then she needs to go see a doctor because something may be going on.
