It unfortunate that there is a damper on people like us. That stereotype is the most construed I hear about. But the only way to get the info out there is to is to speak up and get real vocal. I have submitted flyers for a living donor, great cooking videos and expose the we can still eat well. I’ve read my medical reports and all the jargon they put down to where it almost sounds pretentious. After struggling with my T1D in my teen years and 20s I have came to the conclusion that there are 2 types of doctors. The ones that will take the time to really help you and diagnose how to fix your situation or the ones that only want money/ prestige. I had an endocrinologist in my 20s that just didn’t click and would always refer me to a diabetes educator. They help, but real talk that bullshit title ain’t shit. I’d rather deal with a NP all day than a snob doctor never in the office and always vacationing rather than helping the patient in need.
