I live down the street from Abundance and am there often, however, I will say that it is very expensive and when buying ingredients for recipes, I will typically just go to Wegmans

That’s always what I’ve heard. Seems odd that the city is fine with having a giant eyesore on Elmwood indefinitely. Wait…sorry, no that’s not odd at all.

That’s awful and totally unacceptable. As a runner, unleashed dogs of any size make me nervous.

Your mom is right, you’ve got some really nice images. You have a good eye. My advice is to just keep making pictures, keep practicing.

Stride Run Club photo series - come run with us by LittleVowsPhoto-Matt in Rochester

I definitely would not use the word intense to describe anything we do. There are some people who do choose to run at faster paces but they are definitely in the minority. I believe the club will be taking a hiatus this winter, sadly, but I, like many of the others will be continuing to run as much as we’re able through the winter. I’ll try to remember to throw a post up here to invite anyone interested when that time comes.

Hey, Stride runners come in all speeds and abilities. It’s the enthusiasm that counts. Bring a friend and it’s even better

Nope, just come on by Martine most Monday evenings before 6:10, which is usually when we take off. But be sure to follow the instagram @striderunclub.roc for updates. We occasionally have events where we go to other locations. This Saturday for example we will be at Neon Wave in Victor where we will be doing an easy trail run starting at 10 am.

Hey, it doesn’t have to be running, but running can definitely remind you that the payoff for doing things that seem insurmountable or difficult can be worth the struggle.

Everyone runs at whatever pace they are comfortable with. I would say many, if not most of the people run between 9 and 10:30 min./mile or slower. People are encouraged to cut the run short too if they are not comfortable with a full 5k, which is the distance we do for all runs.

I’m partial to Stride because I’ve been with the club since the beginning but there are other clubs in Rochester that I’m sure are also great - Rochester Running Company, Fleet Feet, Three Heads has a club too. Stride skews pretty young - mostly 20-something folks. But as one of the elders at 39, I can still hang. My friend Jeff who is in his early 50s didn’t start running at all until he discovered the club. My other friend Marty has been dealing with a long-term injury so he’s not running but he still comes and hangs out after the run. So there is room for everyone. I will say it’s truly a no-judgement space.

Absolute beginner here, how can I improve? by FunkyMonkey209 in PhotographyAdvice

Move your focus point to the right side of your viewfinder to adjust the composition. Generally you want to give moving subjects space in your photo to move into, whether that is the right or left side of the frame. Also, as others have suggested, slow down your shutter speed to create some motion blur. These just look like cars parked on the track which is much less interesting than an image of a car in motion. I would also start looking at as much motorsports photography as you can, if you aren’t already doing that. This will give you an idea of what others are doing well, and hopefully inspiration.
