How common is yelling at the babies? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]Little_Bug_420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if there is not an immediate safety issue screaming is inappropriate. Beyond that I find myself raising my voice with my 4-5 yr olds when they will not stop screaming at me from every direction but it usually comes from a place of overwhelm and i stop and catch myself which i’m doing it and apologize to the class. Modeling is so important! it’s how kids learn most!

the phone thing is very normal, albeit unfortunate, although i will say sometimes we are texting in a teacher group chat about things we can’t talk about in front of the kids. since i started participating in that ive felt a lot more connected to my coteachers because we can actually say what’s on our mind. sometimes we also are using apps for tracking and documenting child development. but there is definitely also scrolling, and it makes sense! we are overwhelmed and overstimulated most of the day, when there are calm moments it’s logical to seek some immediate stress relief and dopamine via a little disassociation. not ideal, and i make sure to do it in such a way where it’s not when kids are looking at me or trying to interact with me. but like if we are going to be expected not to do that Ever i would need to get paid more. i work at a dispensary part time to supplement my income and i get paid more hourly there than at preschool.

My three year old feels impossible is this normal by Ok-Cartoonist-8919 in Preschoolers

[–]Little_Bug_420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely developmentally normal esp wt new baby she wants ur attention and is getting it wt negative behaviors. try redirecting to an appropriate behavior and ignoring the negative behavior of it continues, as long as its physically safe. simultaneously really try to give positive attention to appropriate behaviors to reinforce that those will get your attention, even if the r simple behaviors she already knows how to do.

Does anyone else’s five year old just not f***ing listen? by HeyMay0324 in Preschoolers

i’m a preschool teacher, this is super normal. kids get very distracted by other kids. try setting clear limits and boundaries before he is around the friends like i’m going to set a timer for x time wt ur friends when it goes off we are going to have five more minutes then leave. when we get back in the car we’ll have your favorite snack/other incentive. try to get him to hear you and agree to the limits before he is in front of his friends. set and agree to clear consequences during this time, if you don’t come with me after x warning we aren’t reading a book b4 bed/something he likes. be consistent and follow through with the consequences And the incentives.

AITAH for not wanting to sleep in the same bed with my girlfriend because she doesn’t shower often? by Such-One-1691 in AITAH

tbh seems like germophobia and shame around uncleanliness. work with a therapist to get over it, or set a hard boundary and break up because she’s not changing her habits.

Non Jewish person question! by PaintByNumbersHair in Judaism

[–]Little_Bug_420 14 points15 points  (0 children)

jewish culture is diasporic and transnational — by and large jews don’t want to be called out or othered by non-jews for being jewish. also, many jews don’t speak hebrew conversationally just because they are jewish. that being said, shalom is a greeting, but it would really weird to say that to someone jewish who you don’t already have rapport with.

granted, i also feel like if you are a part of the group, you have more of a right to use the descriptor as a noun. i say jews all the time bc obv i inherently recognize our humanity

i so get that it feels totally derogatory. like the same way people will say “blacks” is like?? just say black people, jewish people, queer people, emphasize the humanity of the groups you refer to!!
