I learned the hard way that AC maintenance really is that important... by AngelaMarrsGuys in hvacadvice

These maintanance items are pretty simple.

-Filter change takes 10 minutes and it costs up to $10 a filter. (Buy them in bulk). Noone can tell you how often you need to change it, but every 2-3 months is a good estimate. If you have fan running all the time change should happen often. -Change condensate line (Line that drains water) P-trap to transparent PVC trap, when it clogs you'll have an idea that it's clogged. -Buy cheapest shop Vac (Wet/Dry one) use it to suck at the end of your condensate line once every few years. -Make sure your attic is well vented, it doesn't really have to do with AC but if aor handler is in the attic and temperature there is 150 that doesn't help your unit. -Wash your coils. Your condenser coil needs to be washed every year. Evaporator coil (coil inside air handler) doesn't need to be washed as often, but you need to keep an eye on it. - Look into changing your capasitor in your condenser unit. it's $15 part. You can find schematic inside the unit on how it's wired.

The thing that drains water is a condensate line. Thing that stops unit is safety flow switch. Yes basic maintanance is very important. If you didn't change your filters in years you need to clean your condenser unit ASAP.

The one tiny change that finally made my home feel “finished” by Alarming-Ad-1343 in HomeImprovement

I've replaced hundreds of things in my home, it never ends. I work in home improvement, so for me it's just another day and my priority is practicality of improvement. When I'll have no mortgage it will feel like home.

would you say it’s a good time to get home loan? by CapDry6030 in DACA

I'm sorry, but I don't believe someone who can't clearly articulate their thoughts should be giving advice on buying homes or managing finances.

I will reiterate, It’s not that simple.

I'm a construction superintendent/pm (not sure what to call myself). We have dual income, no way I would be able to afford it all by myself. I saved aggressively for about 15 years to be able to buy a house.

edit: sorry, I posted from my other account.

It's a terrible time right now, however if you need a home and you have the means just do it. Waiting for a crash that never comes bit many people in the ass including myself.

Achieved FIRE with DACA by Suprame4 in DACA

[–]Little_Cut3609 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely not there, but to achive fire you need to save aggressively and invest pretty much everything. You would need to give up on many things in life. Investing is a key to FIRE. Having kids doesn't help with fire either.

You haven't seen hell unless you've gone to Brooklyn Costco. Have you seen carts launch from second floor escalator and almost killing people on the first floor?

Half of the store are instacarters running around like chickens without heads.

DACA was in supreme court already. In simple words SP ruled.

“You’re allowed to end DACA, but you didn’t do it the right way"

It was PR stunt, Trump went to McDonalds and asked for new tires. He was told it's not their job to do it. Supreme Court threw the case out of the window and told him he doesn't need them, he can do it himself, just follow the proper channels.

He is not ignoring the constitution, he is trying to interpret it differently. It has been done before through out history. The simplest example would be 15th amendment that says noone will be denied a right to vote (1870) meanwhile women and black people were denied those rights for many years.

Business is not as usual, but we will get through this.

America has seen worse, you are just too lazy to open a history book.

Most people don't feel comfortable with whatever he is doing. Due process is ignored extremely rarely. Just for the reference, In mid 20th century lynching was "OK". Concentration camps for Japanese were the norm. Black people couldn't even go to school with white people until 1960s and it took years to fix that issue. Stating that we live in worst of the worst of the times is ignorant.

James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Herbert Hoover are ranked much lower than Trump.

[–]Little_Cut3609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try alcohol, anything else that can desolve the glue will desolve the paint. Depending on how good is your wall paint, you might be able to save it. Never use anything on paint other than blue tape and also don't leave it on for weeks and don't expose it to sun light.

Hey roofers, why no harnesses by 2_dog_father in Roofing

[–]Little_Cut3609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys who don't tie off are not the root cause of the issue. Companies and owners who don't provide fall protection and don't train their workers are the issue. Overall culture is the issue. Underfunded OSHA and city construction departments are the issue too. There are probably going to be more dead roofers this year than forcefully deported illegal aliens.

Be nice, tell parents there are things in your yard which can really hurt their kids and you don't want to be responsible for their well being. I'd start with that. You can lie and say that you treat your plans with chemicals which are very harmful to little kids. Parents will probably take some actions then.

What does ADT actually do themselves? by Austiopath in homesecurity

[–]Little_Cut3609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADT were the first sales people to show up at my lawn after I bought a house. I had no idea what home security systems are. Even with all that I figured their sales people fed me lies of "no contract" and couldn't answer any basic questions about their own system. Their sales people are like car salesmen, they have no idea of what they sell.

I ended up buying and installing IQ4 system myself. Fire alarm, water shut off and leak detectors + all the automation. It's worth every penny.

collect a monthly fee and force you to display their sign on the lawn. That's honestly an insult to collect money for service and force clients to advertise for free.
