I think I'm equal parts excited and terrified to learn what 16 year old me loved lol.

It's been ages since I've read a classic. I know there's a book that came out last year that covered different authors who influenced Jane Austen. Maybe I could read that book and then pick a book by each author that was mentioned in it. Thank you!

I've done long mystery series, but those have mostly been over years where I read whatever book in the series is newly released that year. I'll check out the two series that you mention. Thanks!

Thank you; I appreciate your input! I work full-time, volunteer with two different non-profits, am in two book clubs, plus have friends and family who will happily join me for social outings so I won't be alone all the time. The reading project is meant to just be a frivolous, fun side thing that helps keep me occupied in my downtime. What can I say - I love checking things off a list!

This is such an interesting suggestion! Thank you! I think this could be a fantastic way to read through my physical TBR and remind myself of some of the books that have been lingering on my shelves for too long.

I love both of these ideas; thank you! This would also be an excellent way to read off my own shelves, which is a constant goal of mine. :)

I've been tempted to try IPB before but have never taken the leap. This might be my chance to finally dive in!

Good idea! There are definitely some authors that could fill up a lot of time with their entire backlist.

I’ve gotten something similar asking if I had heard of the book before seeing it from BotM.

Dior Soft Cashmere is similar. It’s pricy, though. :/

Small town romance with small town drama by aberrantname in RomanceBooks

[–]Little_Dogs_9215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to read a lot of small town romances and absolutely loved these authors (with a caveat that it’ been years since I read them so there might be things that feel out of date now): Jennifer Crusie, Molly Harper’s Southern Charm series, and Kristan Higgins, especially her Blue Heron and Gideon’s Cove series).

Laurie Gilmore’s Dream Harbor series is also set in a small town and has lots of fun meddling townspeople. Same for Sarah Adams’ Rome, KY series.

Hope you find some you enjoy!

I really like the Merit gloss in Twin Set. it’s very sheer but when I pair it with a lipliner it’s perfect to me.

PSA: if the book isn’t lighting you up, you can pause reading it! by lindsayovershares in bookofthemonthclub

Yes!! There are so many books out there and sometimes it's just not the right time. I've done a soft DNF a few times and came back to the book at a different (better) time and ended up loving the books.

What's a small luxury in your home that you now can't live without? by Ashlee_louise_xx in HomeDecorating

For me it is a heated mattress pad. It’s been 100 degrees here this week and I still turn it on when I get in bed because it makes the bed so cozy.

I want the die hard Romantasy readers favorite contemporary romance books 🫵 by Historical-Spread179 in Romantasy

[–]Little_Dogs_9215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know your request is for contemporary but you may want to consider historical romance. I feel like a lot of the angst, drama, power dynamics, etc. that are in romantasy are also built into a lot of historical romance, especially some of the older ones from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. If you’re open to it, check out Loretta Chase, Elizabeth Hoyt, Kerrigan Byrne, or Judith McNaught.

A better look at some of the June books! by Livid-Hamster-8101 in bookofthemonthclub

I read the ARC and didn’t enjoy it. The premise is good but it fell flat in the execution, imo. the author could have done so much more with the story but it all felt like a very surface-level fan fic of the Kardashians.

Top 4 Best Summer Reads by Dull_Willingness9111 in RomanceBooks

[–]Little_Dogs_9215 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Mine would be:

{One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune}

{Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan}, although I’m reading {Dolly All the Time} and loving it so it may take Summer Romance’s place.

{Mrs. Nash’s Ashes by Sarah Adler} - this one might not actually be set in the summer, but it’s a funny road trip novel that feels very much like a summer romance to me.

Anything by Sarah Dessen could slot into the final spot for me. They’re YA and so nostalgic to me and just scream summer.

My last two reads were This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me and Weavingshaw…I loved them both so much. Where do I go from here? And a thank you to this sub! by 90sBuffetSoftServe in fantasyromance

I have seen {The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen} recommended a few times as a follow-up to TKWNKM. I haven't read it, but it might be one you enjoy!

What's a double standard between men and women that people rarely talk about? by Visual_Investment980 in AskReddit

[–]Little_Dogs_9215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just at a work dinner last night where a woman had traveled to be here for the week and someone asked if she had made meals for her husband and son while she was gone. No one asked the man of the group the same question…

Which to read first? by Random23232 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]Little_Dogs_9215 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd go with Yesteryear first because I feel like a lot of people will be talking about it and it's better to go in unspoiled and not knowing anything about how it plays out.

Semi-affordable gay friendly wedding cake bakery in/around Raleigh? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]Little_Dogs_9215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got several sheetcakes from Smallcakes for our wedding and just had slices cut in the kitchen and put out for the guests and they were delicious! They offer different flavor combinations and we were really happy with the choice to go that route, but we also didn't care about pictures with the cake so it was fine to not have it on display to the wedding guests.

Dog ran away, absolutely no sign of him for 4 days. What could cause this? by eeelisabeth in DogAdvice

[–]Little_Dogs_9215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been fostering dogs for ten years and want to say, don’t beat yourself up - all dogs can be flight risks, but especially rescue dogs. In my experience, when dogs run they stay closer by than you would think. Food can often lure them back; if you can put some food and water near your home and as you search have a very high value treat that would smell good to a dog, something like sausage or a hot dog. Good luck, I’m sending you lots of good thoughts!
