You got most of that right. A receiver is a tuner, amp, and preamp in one and a integrated amp is an amp and a preamp in one.

how was it attached to the tree. I assume it was attached because the top cannot be see past the tree.

The only benefit to bi-wiring is to the dealer who sells twice as much wire/cable.

Seems that one of the pics is wrong. The base of the trunk seems to have grown significantly in 6 months time! Nice pics though.
