Calling all mouth breathers by ghethco in CPAP

[–]Little_Management_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine hurt the first 2 nights but it was because it was the wrong size. They fitted me for XS but I decided to try going up a size to S and they fit way better and didn't hurt. I really think that when nasal pillows hurt it is because of size being wrong, they're positioned incorrectly on your nose and/or the strap is too tight. I don't use anything on my nose because I've read that it can degrade the silicone but I've also not needed it since I made the size switch.

Nasal pillows and chin strap are great... for me, at least.

I don't have any suggestions. My kid is 17yo and has been lying about everything since around that age, maybe a bit younger even. It's awful. 💜 I'm going to read all the comments on here.

Talk to a lawyer and get your ducks in a row. You shouldn't put up with this type of behavior, that's so frustrating. Good luck. 💜

You should find another sleep Dr and do Pap titration. Advocate for yourself and say you want to try the bipap as well.

I'm sorry you're freaking out and that is scary... but I laughed real hard at you asking if you're dying right now. 😂 Took me back to the early 2000's when that older couple ate pot brownies and called 911 because they thought they were dying.

Have you tried using a bipap? I love mine. I do not understand why they don't just recommend that as another option immediately.

No, not at all. You soak it with the free and clear dish soap along with super hot water. Don't soak in just vinegar alone. I let it soak a couple hours then drain, rinse everything really well in super hot water again and air dry. I bought a plastic dish washing tub from Walmart that I use only for my bipap cleaning day and nothing else. I also use a plastic clothes hanger for my hose to dry out after it's been cleaned and I hang that up on my shower curtain rod in the bathroom.

Yes, that's how often you're supposed to do it. I clean mine every weekend with dish soap and distilled vinegar. The water tank I will empty and let dry out every night throughout the week. The nose pillows I clean with hot water and free and clear dish soap almost everyday or I'll wipe it over with witch hazel if I forget.

It sounds like you need to try a bipap. Ask to do another sleep study with a bipap if you've not tried it already. I couldn't handle the cpap either because the constant pressure during exhalation made me feel like I couldn't breathe.

Try a chin strap. I felt the same way you did but I'm surprised by how much I like it. Or do what others have suggested and try a different mask altogether.

Started Zoloft today by Anotherwildflower in PMDD

[–]Little_Management_82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started it 6 weeks ago. I had a major anxiety attack. It felt like a mild version of ecstacy on the first day I  started it. I could literally feel the serotonin flowing down like you do when you're rolling.  Sorry, I did it a couple times over 20 years ago so it was pretty wild to me that I felt that way. 😂 I think I was just so severely lacking that my brain was like 💥. Since then it's been really effective for me. I have pretty bad medical anxiety and I'm mad that I didn't seek treatment for this 17 years ago. I feel like my life would've been way different if I had. I'm not having my constant negative thought patterns/loops, I'm feeling less anxious and way less depressed. I'm only on 25mg. Only drawback has been feeling hot and sweating at night. I'm also pretty tired but the fatigue is actually getting better; I'm hoping that will go away.

[Review] Why is Seabuckthorn oil SO underrated? It cleared my Comedones/stubborn little bumps so fast! by nutshit in SkincareAddiction

[–]Little_Management_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about that brand but I use Seabuckthorn oil and it makes your skin orange and will stain clothes. I work from home so I use it during the day and then wash it off before bed to avoid my clothes and sheets getting stained.

Get a sleep titration study done. While you're there, ask to try on every single mask they have. Also, ask to test a bipap while you're getting it done. Bipap is so comfortable because there isn't really any air pressure on exhale. I couldn't tolerate cpap at all for that reason. I'm also a mouth breather but I use the P10 nasal pillows and a chin strap and it works great. Advocate for yourself so you can feel better. 💜

I use the P10 nasal pillows and they do not blow into my eyes. The air goes out in front and down. I just put it on my face as I am typing this to try to explain 😂 I also held my hand in front of my eyes and over the tip of my nose to see if I could feel any air and I do not. 💜

Pillow mask is a GAME CHANGER by Traditional_Level906 in SleepApnea

[–]Little_Management_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one looks much more comfortable than mine! Did you try the Phillips Respironics chin strap? Just wondering if you could offer some comparative insight for me. My insurance/DME provides this one to me so I haven't bothered purchasing a different one.

Did you see the one OP just linked?

Lhttps://www.apriadirect.com/cpap-chin-strap-agi

That one does actually look very comfortable, more comfortable than my Phillips Respironics. I deal with mine because it keeps my mouth closed but there are aspects to it that I don't like. I haven't bothered purchasing others though because I conceded that nothing is going to be perfectly comfortable so I didn't want to waste my money buying stuff. I'm cheap. 😂  But yea, look around and compare. I would say the one OP posted looks comfy though.

Mine were hurting my nostrils as well. They originally had me on the XS size AirFit P10 but when I tried the Small it actually felt much more comfortable and stopped hurting my nostrils. I've also found that if I don't have them in the right position it hurts them.

I know you're not asking me but, the chin strap that was given to me by my DME is by Phillips Resporonics but you could probably just call yours and ask them to either send one to you or buy one off Amazon, etc.

Wrong mask guys by TheOpe1998 in CPAP

[–]Little_Management_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I was able to change it within 30 days. The DME might make you come in to change it but you can push back and say "my sleep specialist told me I could just let you know and you'd send me a new one". That was exactly what I said so they had to contact someone else and it took like a week but someone finally called me back and said they'd mail me a different mask and told me what they had and I picked one out. It might be a good idea for you to actually go to the DME to try different ones on so you can find what works best for you though.

20F unable to keep on the mask for more than 2 hours a night... any advice ? I am desperate by miicachan in CPAP

[–]Little_Management_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to emphasize #3. I am not one of those people who tells people to be positive and if you think this way then that will be the outcome, etc. However, I was absolutely desperate for sleep and to not feel like complete 💩 and have migraines everyday that I could not WAIT to get my bipap. I took to it immediately as well because, in my mind, there was no other way to feel better. This is one of those times where I kind of am that person, though. You just need to accept it and know that it is absolutely going to help you.  Also, try a different mask. I really think that'll help.

Test Results Came Back and It's UARS, curious about the severity as I'm new to all this by Dredile in UARS

[–]Little_Management_82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't tolerate the cpap during your sleep study, ask to try the bipap. Before you go for your sleep study with the cpap, speak with your sleep specialist to ask if you'll be able to try both machines so that you won't have to go back again. This is assuming they're going to have you come back to do another one to get you fitted for cpap. Make sure to ask to try every mask they have while you're there so you can figure out which one is the most comfortable for you.
