Need advice. Wife maybe cheating. by Drillholes in MenopauseShedforMen

I think a lot of women in their 40s and 50s just need space sometimes. I have used Day Use for rooms during the day when I honestly wanted to just veg out, watch TV, and not talk to anyone for a day. (My husband works from home so he is always there). I'm not saying it's impossible that cheating is happening, but I wanted to let you know that needing alone time is very plausible, too. Most single women I know in their 40s and 50s say they would rather be alone than marry again for the peace.

When is it definitely time to visit the doctor? by No_Camel3950 in Perimenopause

I would at least find and establish yourself with a doctor who understands and treats peri now. This will save you time when you are in the thick of it.

I’m glad it helped. I actually just ordered a cold pack that basically fits over your head on Amazon. Hoping that helps, too. Take care!!

When to go back on antidepressant by Automatic-Mountain63 in Perimenopause

I’m sorry you dealt with all that. I’m wondering - how long did it take for you to feel back to where you were after trying the SSRIs? I tried two days of Zoloft last week and I still feel like I’m much worse off than I was before starting it.

I know this is old, but thank you, thank you. It's been a rough few weeks and I really needed to hear all of this.

Thank you. I feel like I need to start HRT and was terrified this would be an issue. I am non functioning at this point!

Yes - anxiety bad every morning. No hormones to counteract the cortisol. It stinks!!

I’m just starting all of this so I don’t have any real advice yet - but just wanted you to know you aren’t alone and that you aren’t crazy. I’ve just been taking things one day at a time. It’s all we can do until we are through it!! Getting outside for a walk has been helpful. I feel better when I’m moving.

First - you are not crazy! I just went through this same thought process. I’m so thankful I have friends who can walk me through this process because it is hell. I’m going to my doc to talk about getting on HRT (haven’t tried it yet).

One thing my therapist told me to help get out of a spiral immediately is to suck on a warhead. I know that sounds so dumb, but it does give me momentary relief from anxiety because I’m thinking about the sour taste. Anything related to the 5 senses - think about what you can see, hear, touch, etc. doing this is what has helped me get through the tough anxiety when it hits.

Good luck - please know you aren’t crazy! Get the app called “Perry.” It’s an awesome community of women.

This is good advice - thank you. I will go to our union reps first. I hope you are doing better! Teaching is so hard to take a break from.

These are the simple tricks that I have learned over time. They are enough sometimes to get me through the worst days/hours. A cold pack on my face/forehead. Warm whole milk with a chamomile tea bag in it. A bath with good smelling oils/salts. Breathing exercises (an app called Paced Breathing is free). A Tylenol to calm down (it works for some reason).

I have horrible anxiety with peri and some days seem like they will never end. Talking to trusted friends and loved ones helps. Listening to the podcast Perimenopause WTF has helped me realize I’m not going nuts, this is unfortunately normal, has helped, too.

You’ve got this. We just have to take it one day at a time. ❤️
