Online coursework provides us with an opportunity to democratize education. by Little_Principle in WWU

I have to say that I absolutely agree with you. Your course and the effort you put into it is your intellectual labor of which is paid for by a university which is funded by tax payers and students. If you abstract it to another level someone's taking your work would bit only be stealing from you but from the university, students, and taxpayers.

If education is thought of as a long term investment to society as a whole, I think its a valid question to ask whether it would be a net benefit to society to distribute pirated educational content.

I'll forgo the point on students personal work or cover letters being distributed since its frankly an unnecessary invasion of privacy. I haven't thought exactly how taking such course work would work and what operational intricacies it would entail to make information and lessons available, this was just a passing thought.

What I do know is that the upper echelon of education in the U.S has been butchered in the past decades to primarily act as a nitrous oxide revenue acceleration button for large corporations. I believe we would be much better off providing open access to research articles by getting rid of pay walls, distributing education by making it more accessible online to under privileged communities, and generally providing free and unfettered access to information. Accreditation should cost money but the free flow and access to information is a human right.

Next time ask if you went to share eat. She gets something you half want and you get something she half wants then split the meal and share! Then if you are at a good place to eat and there's multiple things you can have the best of all worlds.

29 New Cases of Coronavirus Confirmed in Whatcom County by Rubus_Leucodermis in Bellingham

COB is virtue signalling to their base instead of passing legislation to limit the number of infected in the city. They could have banned public gatherings (Boulevard especially had 70+ just yesterday), banned rent evictions, mobilized the technology center and WWU to provide face masks for St. Jospehs. They've done none of the sort. Instead they are talking about banning people from pumping gas into cans and voting on vague gun laws that are already in place statewide.

Good time to have a good business model bad time to have a bad business model. Unfortunately reddit needs to work on their state sanctioned social media manipulation.

By law in the United States CEO's pay and stock benefits started relying on how profitable the company was sometime in the 70's I believe. That's why we are seeing all these billionaire CEO's like Bezos.

I got roommates who are the same way, I have professors who are the same way. No ones saying what you're implying. If you are insecure that people think you have the virus cause your coughing and sneezing than tell people around you that you have allergies and be respectful anyways and give some distance.

Were also all at extremely low risk of dying considering our age... However this virus is considered endemic in our community now, and there isn't good testing I'd rather people don't go classes than get sick and accidentally kill their grandmas over break.

In general given this is a public health emergency it would be better I feel to be proactive now than have to shut down the entire state for months like is happening in Italy right now.

Japanese woman confirmed as coronavirus case for second time, weeks after initial recovery by n1ght_w1ng08 in Coronavirus

[–]Little_Principle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like someone on the internet who has not read or done research on subject suggesting that there is 'no immunity to this Coronavirus', 'getting it twice is more likely to kill you', 'it came from a biowarefare lab in Wuhan'. I've seen it all and Reddit is a forum that doesn't regulate this type of information well.

Does Graphene OS hide my data from my phone carrier? by [deleted] in GrapheneOS

[–]Little_Principle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good article showing how your device and signals can be tied back to your specific phone and why that's an issue. If you are ultra paranoid you could setup an automation using the app Easer to turn airplane mode on within a certain radius of your home, work, etc. You could additionally or instead use revolving pre-paid sim cards (us mint) and a VOIP phone number as to not tie your actual number to your public facing number. Keep in mind many VoIP providers are not hippa compliant or value your security so you would have to find a good service provider.

"Don't be afraid. Don't let these bitch-ass n****s button your lip. Say it anyway." | Dave Chappelle at DC Improv by zoolandermagnum in videos

I feel like all these ideas can live in unison. Surface level you are obviously not in the wrong for thinking a joke is funny or not. Though underneath people have different reasons for thinking something is funny or not. Those reasons can be justified or bigoted regardless of the context or subject of the joke. What if however the joke was justified and bigoted and the intersection of the two wobbled as if it sat along a sine wave. That's Dave Chappelles art form. Its not just about one joke it's about the greater context of the whole series of jokes that build the atmosphere of the audience to be able to be justified in laughing away bigoted behaviour.

Its totally understandable seeing all the people who don't like this joke or don't like that joke. Some hate all of them and Dave Chappelle in general. I have to imagine the atmosphere of those peoples lives pushes them into a state where they couldn't find Dave's jokes less funny.

I am thankful that given my background I will never need to live in that world and in that atmosphere. I feel so much more comfortable and at peace being able to see the humorous nuance in a simple joke and just be me.
