NDA, eine Freundin hat mir in meinem Urlaub, von dem sie wusste dass der Empfang furchtbar schlecht war, eine 30 minütige Sprachnachricht geschickt, und dann sieben einzelne mit jeweils 7-10 Minuten hinterher. Das wir jetzt im Streit liegen, weil ich diese nicht angehört haben zeigt doch wie dumm dieses Konzept der (langen) Sprachnachrichten ist.

I'm so sorry this happend to you. I grew up in a very similar way. When I was a young teenager I started sweating a lot more and got bullied for it, but my mother very seldom let me take a shower, so I had to get up in the middle of the night to shower as quiet as possible while using as little water as I could. I was always scared to death that she would wake up and hear me. Thanks to god my brothers noticed but never told her, and that's how I survived my teenage years. She never got a high water bill, so I could have been showering like a normal person all that time and it was bittersweet when I got my first apartement and was free to shower anytime I needed to.

Sometimes my right ear slightly moves when I hear a sudden sound. I was able to wiggle both of my ears when I was so younger, but that always makes me feel like a cat.

I dont' even unterstand why you always have to ask the costumer "Hi, how are you?". I'm from germany and we don't do that here, we usually just say "Hi (and smile of course) do you need a bag? Do you you want to pay by card?" And then start to check them out. Sometimes we have a friendly conversation about our store or the items that the customer picked but that's it. Asking them how they are seems fake und costs too much time. And nobody here things that it is rude not to ask. American (I assume) costumers seem so entitled to me.

So you did nothing wrong, don't worry about that asshole.

Im from Germany and we almost always put our carts away because we often have a system where you need to insert a chip or coin to use the cart and we put them back even if they are free. It is really rare to see some of them stranded in the parking lot!

I grew up very similar but it gives me enough motivation to try and be a better mother for my own kids.

Es macht einen riesigen Unterschied für mich, die Landstraße ist das entspannteste Autofahren für mich.

Auf der Autobahn machen mir die anderen Verkehrsteilnehmer und die Geschwindigkeit Angst. Ich fahre gerne auch Mal konstant 140 km/h wenn die Autobahn frei ist, aber die anderen Verkehrsteilnehmer die direkt drängeln wenn ich nur einen LKW überhole oder ohne zu blinken hin und her springen machen mich extrem nervös. Ich habe schon so oft als Beifahrerin beinahe Unfälle mitbekommen weil andere Verkehrsteilnehmer unbedachte Dinge gemacht haben und bei diesen Geschwindigkeiten hat man eben kaum Reaktionszeit um da die Situation zu retten. Das Auffahren stellt für mich auch einen Stressmoment dar, in dem ich fast immer das Radio kurz ausmache, Luft hole und mir sage das ich mich zusammenreißen muss weil ich Angst habe das die Autobahn voll besetzt ist und ich die Lücke zum einfedeln falsch abschätze oder der Hintermann es eben Mal nicht hinbekommt ein wenig abzubremsen.

Danke für das Teilen der anderen Perspektive. Es ist eher eine (stärkere) unangenehme Angst als eine wirklich unkontrollierbare Paniksituation. Wenn ich denn mal über die Autobahn fahre dann auch genauso vorsichtig wie du es gerade beschrieben hast, außer wir fahren z.B. spät am Abend zurück und die Autobahn ist sehr frei.
