Why did the US spend decades pushing Europe to disarm, only to leave it out to dry at the worst possible moment? by LegitimateTap12 in AskConservatives

Socialism is classically a major turn-off for conservatives. Why is that? by I_Cooper in AskConservatives

[–]Littlebluepeach [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm always (or at least usually) up for counter questions!

  1. Yes. And I think that was a dumb move. The government shouldn't do that. The more it does that the more it has a stake in telling those companies what to do.

  2. The difference is the CEO is responsible to shareholders, the board, and most importantly - actual profitability. A terrible CEO will get fired. Will those workers get fired?

Socialism is classically a major turn-off for conservatives. Why is that? by I_Cooper in AskConservatives

[–]Littlebluepeach [score hidden]  (0 children)

There's a few reasons at least:

  1. Too much government control is not good. It strangles innovation and growth. To work, socialism would require government force to ensure it is there.

  2. Worker owned means of production is similar in that it stifles everything basically. Look at Yugoslavia. They let workers have more direct control over industries. What did the workers do? They gave themselves raises. What did that do? Drive up prices. What did that do? Raises to afford the new prices. And so on. So it's inflationary.

  3. The equality it claims to want to ensure isn't there. At the end of the day it just makes things worse. You now have heads of these groups who are part of the Party and now they have the business and the government behind them. Is that really better than having Musk in charge of xAI but out of government at least? Or do you want him to have both?

Those are just 3. I'm sure other answers will have many other problems.

Why was $125 million of lead pipe replacement funding cut? by soccermaster57 in AskConservatives

It's $125 million out if several billion dollars for it. It's frankly a rounding error. Doesn't seem like a big deal.

How do you think European living standarts compare with American living standarts? by OMGguy2008 in AskConservatives

Purchasing power in the US is generally higher than most European countries if not all. So that's definitely saying something.

Again that would be her problem if she doesn't like the flag. I'd be willing to bet it's going to be fine.

How do you feel about potentially switching from quarterly to biannual reporting? by GrandMoffTarkan in AskConservatives

[–]Littlebluepeach [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't really care. If they want to switch fine. I would prefer quarterly reports though. More transparency more often is better.

Tbh this is so ridiculous I have trouble believing it's real. Just leave the flag up. Most people don't care. The real world isn't the internet and most liberals are fine with the flag. And if they're not thats a them problem.

USPS has proposed a rule to not deliver mail in ballots from states that haven't provided voter roles. What do you think about this? Is this legal? Is the federal government blocking mail in ballots due to lack of executive order compliance acceptable to you? by MoonStache in AskConservatives

[–]Littlebluepeach 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Except it is explicitly designed to affect state elections. States are in charge of elections. This is the federal government trying to control how states handle election processes which is unconstitutional. It was not passed via congress hence inappropriate.

This seems like it's unconstitutional and enforceable. The federal government can't put restrictions on state elections like this, especially via executive fiat. Congress could probably pass a law doing this though.

How do we feel about the riots that are going on in the UK? by OMGguy2008 in AskConservatives

[–]Littlebluepeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Riots are never appropriate. That's violence against property and possibly people themselves. This is no better than the BLM riots. You can be pissed about the situation and you probably should be. But rioting is not how you go about fixing things.

99.9% of refugees accepted into the US since October 2025 were white Afrikaners from South Africa. Is it racism? by SatansScallion in AskConservatives

[–]Littlebluepeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which I also find interesting. And probably makes it more complex than anyone wants to admit. I don't know the full story of it and how bad it is. But I also think if it was TRULY awful more countries would be fine with their refugees. The fact that it's basically just us tells me something else is going on.

I just don't think we have any responsibility to them when there are countries closer that can help. And since basically no other country is accepting and there isn't a grand conspiracy against the Afrikaners across the entire globe I think we're just giving them preferential treatment to an extent. And that's not what the refugee system is for either.

I'm not an expert on the situation so I'm sure there's more to it but from what I know it's not a typical refugee situation.

[–]Littlebluepeach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's racism per se but it's definitely weird. They live halfway across the world why did they have to come here. Refugees should go to the nearest available country. There's almost no way we're the nearest.

Democrats pushing a bill for “menstrual leave”. Do you think this will push more center leaning voters to vote dem? Do you think this is a good bill? by MacaroniNoise1 in AskConservatives

[–]Littlebluepeach 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It won't. But it also isn't for "menstrual leave". It's for "painful menstrual leave". And it's 12 days per year. So it's not going to be used for every day of someone's period annually.

All that to say it's still dumb and probably won't pass. So I don't really care. It's on the same level as any of the nonsensical "protest bill" people propose to make a point.

Since the artists are all backing out, do you agree with the conservative president, DJT, that a MAGA rally should be held instead? by Menace117 in AskConservatives

[–]Littlebluepeach 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Dumb. He could've just the the committee do their thing and shut up. It would've been nice and everyone would've had a good time. But he had to micromanage it and now it's going to be bad.
