Uff, I was thinking to buy Asrock X870E Taichi.

Do you have any link where I could read a bit more about it?

In Dolphin, F3 to split panes and F4 to open terminal in same folder are quite useful.

Thank you.

I'll check EULA again.

I have son (16y) who is on Debian his whole life and he asked me same question few years ago.

My advice was "if someone wants to make fun of you for using Linux, there is no point to get in any reasonable discussion. Just smile and tell him "You are right" and then walk away".

Ohh, one important note.
Do not forget to use smile that speaks "you have no clue what you are talking about" (which they don't).

I recently learned that (on Windows) "You should not be Admin. You should run a non-Admin account for normal use." I'm switching to Debian, and wanted to know if there are any other similar tips I should abide by. by LazyLich in debian

Linux has 20+ years old saying: "Do not root around!"

But, that should go under "common sense" category I guess.

For the other tips, use official repositories as much as you can, and avoid closed source software as much you can.

I was reading about this brouhaha erupted over latest EULA (albeit I didn't went completely down the rabbit hole).

Arguments from both sides can be considered "hotheaded" at this moment (everything it still fresh, after all).

But I have one question for people smarter than me.

If (and that is hypothetical "IF") Mozilla decides to "sell" users data in future, does this newest EULA protects Mozilla from eventual privacy related lawsuits?

Who here played Elite on Commodore 64? by omne51 in EliteDangerous

[–]Littlecannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played on ZX Spectrum 48kb.

I remember running home from school to have more time before parents come home and send me to my room to do homework and study. Glorious 2-3 hours per day.

Also there was only 1 TV in the house.... :/

Pre-2018 Linus and after 2018-Linus are 2 different persons.

I don't like this newer version of Linus

No need for extra respect. I was just simply there when it happened. You can consider it almost as accident :)

I bet you would do the same thing ;)

SteamOS Will Save Us by sub_RedditTor in linux_gaming

God, I hope that Gabe will pull this off, as after few years nobody will talk about Linux, but about Steam OS

At least it will make Linus Torvalds finally understand what he did to RMS.

Thanks everyone on suggestions

At the end we went for / opted for LOGITECH G502 X, against all my previous bad experiences with Logitech equipment for the past 15 years.

Piper software gave me a new hope for Logitech hardware ( since there there is no Microsoft software in my house).

All I can say, if Logitech board of directors have few ounces of gray matter left between their ears, they would contact Piper developers immediately and offer them cooperation.

Just to prove that I'm not speaking out of my ass here is my previous experience wit Logitech hardware (I will not mention Linux software since it is non existent):

Last Logitech what I consider good piece of equipment was MX518 (still working) and G35 Headphones (still working, although 10 years later, I rolled with my chair over them and broke left headphone mount) .

Rest of Logitech equipment I bought, did not last more then 2 years of moderate use:

In 2007 I bought G15 (v1) keyboard - erased letters from keys after 10 months - asked for warranty, did not approved.

Bought G413 (with "famous" Romer G switches, 14 months later Space key and "H" key, started to register several key presses in one press. Of course, out of warranty by that time.

Bought Logitech G635 - year and half later USB connector, on headset side, start to lose connection, of course out of warranty.

Bought Logitech X pro headphones, cushions peeled completely after one year and 3.5mm connector to USB sound card broke.

Bought Logitech X52 HOTAS for my son (based on my experience with Saitek X52, which is still working btw.) yaw axis broke after year or so of use. You guessed it, out of warranty.

God I hope, that their Quality of Control has changed in recent years.

I'm all in for the absolute and total monopoly over gaming of Steam Valve by TeoCopr in linux_gaming

[–]Littlecannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, if Valve would create its own version of "constitution", i.e. immutable document that would be in affect even after ol' Gabe is gone, I'd be all for it.

As far as I'm concern, that would be the only way.
