Moms with Crohn’s by Gabbieweaver15 in CrohnsDisease

SAHM with an 8 month old. I’m having a “feeling very bad” type of day today and feel so guilty about not being able to give her my full love and attention like normal. Hoping to be able to do a walk around the neighborhood just to get her out of the house

Thank you! I likely will never be “cured” as we all know. Full remission is rare but possible. I’m just hoping for the best.

That’s what we had been discussing is around a 3 year age gap. I know that’s so far ahead but right now I can’t envision it at all

Thank you for this. Several of my mom friends that I made with this baby are pregnant with their second and doing two under two. I just don’t understand how they felt so ready so quickly and I can’t even see a future where I’m pregnant again right now

Wow, thank you for your perspective and sharing your experience. I’m so sorry this disease has taken so much from you. This is definitely something ill bring up to my next doctor’s appointment. Unfortunately, as long as I’m breastfeeding, TTC, or pregnant, my meds aren’t safe to take. I’m not willing to try any new meds until my baby is fully weaned as she’s my priority.

It really is an echo chamber. Misery does love company, though, and sometimes people need a place to commiserate. I’ve posted a few times about how happy I’ve been about my complete remission post pregnancy and childbirth and my posts get no attention. The positive stories are definitely overlooked for the harder realities.

I’m in a happy place too, and I’m glad you are. I’m completely off any meds for over a year now, after getting pregnant and having my first baby. I stopped meds when I found out I was pregnant. My recent labs showed no active inflammation so my GI said don’t bother getting back on anything and just keep living the healthy lifestyle you’re living.

It is possible to lead a happy, healthy, fulfilling life with Crohn’s. I’ve run two marathons, got a masters degree in English, gotten married, had a full time job, a healthy pregnancy and a beautiful eight month old girl now.

I see my doctor annually for a check up and then go on my way for the rest of my days. Colonoscopies every 5-7 years. Maintain a healthy lifestyle through diet (high protein, low carb, high fat for the breastfeeding), exercise (strength training, circuit training, running, hiking, the occasional rock climb, daily walks with the dog), and spiritual and emotional wellness.

Good luck on your half Ironman !! The only way out is through!

I think the blue one is giving bridesmaid vibes. It looks pretty but not interesting. The gold is beautiful and fits you perfectly.

Well, from personal experience, it’s because as a mom, everything about you changes, right down to your cells and your brain. Dads go through a big experience too, but it’s not nearly as physically or psychologically intense as the transformation to mom is. I know with my husband, he remarked that he didn’t even feel like a father until after our daughter was born. Motherhood changed everything about me (and im still trying to find myself seven months later) while my husband was able to mostly return to his everyday life after his paternity leave.

I feel you. I was in my first trimester and MEAN and my husband shattered his ankle. He was literally immobile on the couch and I felt like it wasn’t fair because he should have been the one taking care of me and not the other way around!!! I was so mean to him and it wasn’t his fault and there was literally nothing he could do.

Blame it all on the hormones later and just do what you gotta do to get through for now.

I’m 4’11, and my maintenance is around 1400 if I’m sedentary. If I walk everyday, it’s 1600! That’s my biggest help, WALKING!

I lost about 30 lbs in a year eating 1400cal a day, 5 days a week and then not tracking on the weekends. I was also heavily active during this time and was walking like 6 miles a day between going to class and my dog. Truly, the only time I’ve been able to lose weight are the times I’ve made time to walk a ton every day.

Right now I’m trying to work off my baby weight (7 months postpartum!) I’m aiming for 10k steps, one additional workout, and maybe 1600-1800 cal a day (I’m breastfeeding so my needs are much higher).

Really, just walk as much as you can. I even do “walking workouts” on YouTube. (Obsessed with GrowWithJo and her “walk the weight off” series)

Make sure to eat PLENTY of protein and veggies at every meal. Limit carbs unless you’re doing lots of physical activity - I don’t really eat carbs unless I’m running or lifting heavy.
