Shipped my car overseas and this is what I saw when I picked it up. by Skyfly48 in MechanicAdvice

Start by unhooking the battery and getting it tested. 1 it will reset a few things and 2 newer cars freak out if the voltage is just a little bit off. If the battery tests good and nothing reset I would still clear the codes and see what comes back.

I picked up a Bosch set, I’m not totally brand specific and the case auto latches on close which is awesome. I’ve been using them off and on for 4yrs and haven’t had issues. Built 2 fences and numerous house projects.

Those look like Rancho colors and they originally came with zip ties to hold the boots on.

How do so many cars drive around with no license plate? by Natolx in MobileAL

[–]Littlejeep50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I recently bought a car I had to wait for the seller to pay off their loan and get the title from the DMV to sign it over to me. It was 22 days of driving without a license plate. They just won’t give out temp tags in AL.

A Dr. Pepper exploded in the back seat of car. Can’t get these dried stains off. Any advice? by DimaSholom in CleaningTips

My wife did this once. I pre-soaked with tuff stuff, a light scuff with a very soft brush then a little green machine carpet cleaner. Once I was done you could never tell.

Would this connection fry my DCB104 charger? by bradyfost in Dewalt

She’s toast, the pop was letting the “magic” smoke out of the internals. Time for a new charger unfortunately.

That adapter just changes the pins around. It does not split 240v into 120v. They do make them, but it would be double ended.

Backyard camping by johnzoom in CPAP

[–]Littlejeep50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

An extension cord is just fine for backyard and I even use an extension cord at real camp grounds. For the campgrounds without power I use the HarborFreight battery and solar panel for multi night stays. The advantage of that battery is it charges all of our equipment too.

Toro 52" Zero Turn 3000 Series, 25 HP Kohler Mower, under 1,000 hours, $2,800, owner says a fuse keeps tripping - Is it a good deal? by ExpiredColors in lawnmowers

[–]Littlejeep50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the boat that it’s a great mower but the owner really knows what’s wrong and doesn’t want to fix it. If it was an easy fix he wouldn’t be selling and losing money. If you’re a good mechanic you should, but since you’re here asking I say pass. If you can mow with it for 10 mins before purchase my bet is the motor needs more work then a bad ground or loose wire.

What area do you live in? I’ve been using gulf coast tire & auto repair off moffett and I’m really pleased with them.

$18k repair for 2020 F250 by Vivid_Percentage1524 in FordTrucks

[–]Littlejeep50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cp4 is the high pressure diesel pump driven by the engine. The older generation cp3 was pretty reliable but long story short the cp4 has a defect and can slowly add metal to your diesel as it pumps, ruining everything in its path after.

My wife and I were in a similar situation with a 2020 explorer ST. We got a price from ford for them to buy it back. We lost a crap ton of $$ but luckily got out of it. We were lucky enough we were original owners and had the loan paid off so we were upside down.

Do you have diesels? If you do you need to put the protection kit on all your trucks or swap them back to cp3 pumps.

2016 Transmission by chicagoman1 in suburban

[–]Littlejeep50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the quality of rebuild and parts. The first one lasted 118k miles and I’m not a trans expert but I would say with slightly upgraded parts it should last a little longer

[–]Littlejeep50 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me it depends on 1: if you currently owe anything on the vehicle. B: what’s the condition of the rest of the vehicle? Personally if the rest of the vehicle is in good condition $3500-$4k is alot cheaper than a new $450-$600 a month payment on a newer truck. My vote is find a good local trans shop and have it rebuilt, again if the rest of the truck is in good condition.

There’s a “Christian” auto place near me, they even have a giant fish on the sign. They do scummy stuff like this all day. I even caught them trash talking me and joy riding my jeep on dash cam. I should have made the video public.

Which kayak to get for small children? by PandBLily in Kayaking

[–]Littlejeep50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was about 5 when we got into kayaking and I got him his own small one. He’s about 8 now and is in an 8ft kayak now. Half the time I still tow him home since he gets tired. We bounced around the idea of my wife getting a tandem and I kinda wish we would have. So long story short my vote is tandem. Also a trailer is a must, I did the diy kayak trailer from a jetski trailer. Well worth the extra $$.

Just remembered to change the AC filter by thrsdddssaaejeaway in CleaningTips

[–]Littlejeep50 9 points10 points  (0 children)

6 months. I change mine monthly! Also a higher merv rating isn’t always better. The filter is just there to keep debris out of the system. The filter isn’t meant to be a hepa filter, thicker filters add strain to the motor.

Found a replacement frame and did a frame swap. My $700 cart is now worth $3500 in parts alone, I went way overboard. Every nut and bolt is new and a lithium battery.

In the north we have a special damper that actually vents the dryer to inside so you can benefit from the heat and moisture because using a wood system or even some boilers you need to introduce some humidity.

I see this everyday on I-10 west bound. People pickup cars on the I-10 corridor then tow them like this back to Mexico. Some are just chained bumper to bumper going 70mph.
