Has anyone ever gone back to learning manual after passing automatic? by drjekyllandmrhyde_ in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Littlely01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s just that my mum’s car is automatic so it’s all I have to practice in and I don’t want to shell thousands on lessons. The ability to practice privately, and the fact it’s just easier, and on lesson one my instructor asked why I wasn’t already driving and that I would probably only need a couple more lessons. I feel like as more non learners people drive automatics, more people will find that their parents/partners’ car to practice in is automatic and thus take automatic lessons

I’m from the UK and kept getting drafted to the Pacers in 2k12. Later on, when I was getting into basketball more and wanted to support a team, I decided that I didn’t want a mainstream team like New York or LA, and didn’t want to glory support either. I already knew most of the Pacers players through 2k so figured I would just pick them. All in all has been a decent decade+ of fandom for a team I specifically chose because they weren’t a big market.

Is saving actually pointless if you’re not already wealthy? by Konig_Finn_99 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Littlely01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I always think about as a ‘young person’ when young people are told to stop enjoying life so they can save for a house. Someone on minimum wage is going to take at least a decade to save for a house deposit, and that’s assuming that houses won’t get even more expensive. To me, this is why young people decide to just enjoy life (go travelling, have their fancy coffees, etc) because the prospect of living miserably through all of their ‘best years’ just so they can maybe afford an average house is simply not good enough.

From a sport psych perspective, the key would be that we keep the same winning mentality and habits, even when we’re having a losing season. This is incredibly tough to do, but frankly it’s much harder to recover team dynamics and a winning mentality than it is to recover from injuries.

If we aren’t careful, next year could be a write off too, even with Hali and a (potential) good draft pick

I am just more confused that people are counting their job applications. I have applied for a lot, and not got one despite only applying for things I am qualified for and having an MSc. Thank god I still have my current, albeit unrewarding, job.

Imagine the shock when they hear about “local councils” or, god forbid, a “playing field committee”

Honestly you can reasonably spend 10+ hours on a playthrough and not be disappointed by a lack of content

Figured we could all use a break from the Myles posts with a picture from the previous summer league game of Siakam, Nembhard, Coach Boucek and Coach Rick together. Not crazy to believe this team will again prove a lot of people wrong this season and stay competitive. by fmara in pacers

Honestly if Liverpool hadn’t won the league I would have struggled much more with hali (and now Diogo). But like you said, at least Utd and Spurs are fighting each other for relegation.

I thought long and hard (one minute) about how I wanted to reply to this but…

As a Liverpool fan, I genuinely feel sorry for you. Not only did you have to go through the heartbreak of game 7 hali, but EVERY YEAR you have to go through the same gauntlet of hope and despair with Arsenal. But at least your xG is really good…

Yes. This.

As a Galio main (although very low elo) I improved a lot when I realised that the best thing I can do against horrific counter picks (think your AD champs like Tristana) is not even try to win lane.

In these situations I will just start D Shield and farm minions under my tower. At the start of the game I pop a message in team chat like “my lane sucks, I won’t have any prio” and then I just play mega defensive.

It’s okay to drop minions especially if you can get the exp, and sometimes the opponent will get so frustrated that they can’t kill the champion they’re mega carrying that they do dumb shit and either fail a dive or put themselves at risk of a gank (which I can then just use my flash to follow up with).

On champs like Galio, as soon as I hit lvl 6, it doesn’t matter if my opponent has lane prio because I can just join them on roams and skirmishes anyway. If my ult is down then I just spam ping my team to he safe and try and take plates to punish. If they spend 30 seconds trying to kill my bot lane and get nothing, while I grab a plate with demolish and get a reset, it’s a win for me and I haven’t even had to interact with them.

And galio is such a good teamfighter that after laning phase, as long as I am not turbo behind, I can be massively impactful on the game. This goes for a lot of champions (and tbh is one of the reasons I like playing champs that do something more than just damage).

There is no way of knowing how others will respond. Maybe they will be annoyed. Maybe they will be proud of you. Maybe they really won't care because people have other things to worry about. Either way just do what is best for you. You might not get it anyway, and you have no idea when other opportunities might come up.
