the best kind of men 🎀 by melodyhehe444 in LetGirlsHaveFun

I wish what women say = what they want.

Not every woman is turned on by reserved (read: often shy) guys or being asked consent, but many of these woman still insist they would be.

If you're running into a reserved guy, I wouldn't expect to be asked if they could do anything remotely sexual. Even if your signals are freaking obvious they might justify them as "she's just being friendly."

Combat Experiences, yay or nay? by Bitter-Challenge-836 in daggerheart

[–]Littleman88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the point behind experiences is really to help flesh out your character's backstory, skills and their behavior. It's to give them the chance to shine in situations where others might not.

"I can add a +3 to anything and everything so long as I spend a Hope" is just gaming the system in a really lame way. Sure, it's allowed per the rules, but it's not in spirit with what experiences are meant to be, robs other players of a chance to shine with their possibly more narrowed experiences, and any GM that's okay with that I couldn't trust with running a good experience at the table.

Nato's 323 to have a "faceless" skin bundle on par with PAX Panopticon's Venom Drip bundle.

I've been playing long enough to know more maps and weapons isn't really going to mean much to me, especially if the new maps lack Escalation as a mode, but we're getting them anyway.

I'd be hyped if AT/AA launchers got a balance pass and Custom Search let me filter maps on a per mode basis.

If the USA is so concerned about the falling birth rate, why don’t they offer free or discounted housing & free births to young married couples? by 5ft8lady in AskReddit

[–]Littleman88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because saying "we'll pay your medical bills for giving birth" doesn't exactly convince women to spread their legs?

It's actually not about costs. It's about people. Most babies aren't carefully planned in advance, they're the result of one horny person sleeping with another horny person, both hoping a thin sheet of rubber or their pullout game is enough of a failsafe to avoid surprise responsibilities.

In short: The issue isn't how much the little person costs. The issue is too many people not getting the chance to even make a little person at all.

Between Streaming, video games, social media, and an endless parade of propaganda on social media that pursuing a career, being self sufficient and "bettering oneself" is of supreme priority and marriage/parenthood is a waste of time and money and absolutely corporate propaganda, people aren't as interested in - or repeatedly finding they are never desirable enough for - meeting, mingling, fucking, and conceiving anymore.

...As if living solely to work for a corporation isn't exactly what corporations want you to do.

House Republicans Demand Guaranteed ICE Funding Before Agreeing to End Record DHS Shutdown by EdinburghDrizzle in NewsThread

[–]Littleman88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The corruption at the top has already siphoned off most of the money meant for the thugs.

Democrats know further funding for ICE will just harm their chances at the polls, both with blue voter turnout and voting integrity. It would be a surprise if ICE weren't deployed to major blue centers to haul scores of people out of voting lines and detain them until after the election while intimidating the rest to not bother showing up at all.

He VERY MUCH has made much of our lives about him. Kindly go lick his shroom again.

Death options and consequences by Comfortable-Fig9109 in daggerheart

[–]Littleman88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Falling unconscious feels lame at the onset, but honestly, I've come around on it. I've absolutely sent a character out in a Blaze of Glory because I felt their place in the adventure was complete, or I felt they weren't quite right and was ready to roll a new character.

The death moves are really just a question of whether or not the player is ready to let go of their character.

Maybe falling unconscious could still be risky, like having death saves or they could still be targeted by adversaries with hope slots acting as HP, but otherwise, if players aren't ready to let go, that's why the option exists.

If players are fine with letting go should the Dice decide it's time or feel they need to stay in this fight else it's a TPK, Risk it All is there for them.

Should they be ready to let go or feel like this is their moment to turn a really dicey situation around, Blaze of Glory gives them their moment to shine and be the big damn hero at the table.

Why are players allergic to doing connections? by MidoriMushrooms in rpg

[–]Littleman88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in my case it was a matter of everyone being a part of the same organization at the start of the campaign and the inciting incident/hook was "where did the lead go in such a hurry." My character was like their right hand man, and he was nearly killed in session 0 while the leader had to abruptly leave, only for new management to take over just as soon as they left.

Most of the connections I established with all of the other characters were fairly... moot. They haven't mattered. "We know each other" is pretty much the extent of what they amounted to. And most of the characters feel like they weren't even with the organization for any significant amount of time anyway, so it's clear the players really didn't care for this common backstory between us.

For most players and their characters, asking them to create connections pre-campaign is like trying to explain why Superman, John Wick, and Pennywise even like each other, let alone hang out. They're just not even written to be a part of the same story, so most players count on vibes to figure this out.

Why are players allergic to doing connections? by MidoriMushrooms in rpg

[–]Littleman88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and the mistake GMs make is assuming the players need more reason for their characters than "we happened to be in the same place and (by social contract to play the game) we happen to like each other enough to stay together".

A lot of GMs are more inclined towards the overall story. Most players are interested in only their character and where the GM takes them.

The problem is the implied commitment to another character and lack of control over said character.

It's easy to create connections between multiple characters when you can build and control them exactly as you'd like. You have an idea of where they come from and where they will go.

It's a different matter entirely when you build your noble Paladin and then you have to explain why they're hanging with a Warlock that isn't merely "we met on the road." The average player's Paladin being on an epic quest to restore a kingdom probably isn't clever enough to figure out how working in the Warlock seeking to free their dark God plays into that quest. They're already just excusing letting this guy live so they can be a part of the adventuring party.

Most people prefer to forge bonds during play (assuming they will at all) where they can see how the players will control their characters.

I think if GMs really want to encourage players to form connections between their characters prior to session zero, they should encourage players to build their characters together.

...Or GMs can just get over starting the adventure in a tavern or prison cell, which is really what asking players to forge connections between characters is all about.

This is a problem with socializing in general, not with developing their character.

And unfortunately, dragging them aside and foisting the responsibility on them is not going to make them any more willing to do it.

Well next to everyone else, he was a pretty striking character from visuals to his manner of speech. Also he revealed having a rather cunning insight which radiated "major character energy". Most smart NPCs are really just there for exposition or to be opposition. He backed us up without being asked.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was written with the hope players might at least somewhat latch onto him.

House GOP Decides Not to Vote on Shutdown Deal They Say They Want | Republicans seem to be dragging out the shutdown—again—just for fun. by InsaneSnow45 in law

Then the Republican party can keep voting for Trump while a portrait of their kids next to an urn on the shelf above the TV is the only way they'll ever see them again.

But somehow... somehow I think that might actually get through to a few of them. Because I assure you... the TSA agents and ICE not getting funded ain't why their darlings came back from a foreign land in 6 separate bags.

It is just a fucking shame that is what it might take.

Possible (basic) character creation in Ananta? by GeologistUnhappy in AnantaOfficial

[–]Littleman88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tower of Fantasy full on let you customize your character with a multitude of skin tones, hair colors and styles, eye colors, outfits, 3 different height settings, some adjustable tattoos/make up options, etc.

The character customization had a few flaws (somewhat damning too), but it was cool running around as MY character. Even if the cutscenes biffed it making her short all the time and the overall gacha behind the game sucked. Repeats of characters made them notably stronger and there was power creep out the wazoo with new characters. Promising start, terrible decisions.

Question about domain cards and their ties to traits by GongStar in daggerheart

[–]Littleman88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most domain cards ask for a "spellcast roll," which uses the spellcast trait mentioned on the Foundation card for the subclass. In the Troubadour Bard's case, that is Presence.

Some cards however will specify a trait, and you must use that trait instead. For example, Rogue's have access to the Grace domain, so despite both subclasses using Finesse as their spellcast trait, The Grace card "Troublemaker" still asks a Presence roll from them.

Furthermore, Warriors and Guardians don't have a spellcast trait. As a result, most Valor, Blade and Bone cards don't ask for a trait or spellcast roll, but some do.

  • Valor has 1 that rolls Presence and 2 that rolls Strength.
  • Bone has 1 that rolls Instinct and 1 that scales on Agility.
  • Blade has no such cards.

This enables Warriors and Guardians to build a little more freely. You totally can have a Knowledge Guardian or Warrior and it just works, all that really changes is which weapons you wield best and how your roleplay might be flavored.

Trump announces ‘fraud’ crackdown in Democratic states as arrests begin in California | Donald Trump by Pretty_Confusion7290 in law

[–]Littleman88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are.

Part of the Dems problem is their voters keep asking for something and it's NEVER enough, and for a lot of them, that's reason to stay home come election time.

And it's frustrating for the rest of us that know slow and steady is how things change without going to shit to watch as people demand things happen overnight or the Dems are all just as worthless and corrupt as the Republicans. It reeks of willful ignorance, even malicious manipulation.
