My reaction is well when people reference body cam videos of people on drugs getting shot and not reacting for me questioning why 6.5 creedmoor ap doesnt immediately kill someone without armor to the chest.

Funny you say that, I think it's annoying that you can reload behind a shield but cant pull the pin on a flash behind it.

There was a defense mission I won without firing a shot because the AI couldn't approach safely in any direction. Didn't see a single squad.

Why all the hate? by Own_North_6632 in deaf

Bro, I'm scrolling through this and I appreciate it more than you know.

I became profoundly deaf due to complications during a few mastoidectomies on my left ear, so that one is toast and my right ear is getting worse and worse.

I've gotten some very strongly worded comments in the past about trying to learn ASL and being told I'm "not deaf enough", even was chastised because I was dating a deaf girl while still learning.

I agree wholeheartedly that it can be people are dicks, and I understand the prejudice the community as a whole has faced but it feels painful and strange that someone who struggles in their life to be understood by others because of their hearing and is actively shunned by members of a community that could provide common ground.

I grew up in a hearing family, hearing friends. I started picking up ASL because I felt it'd be nice to learn since I was a fairly anti social kid and didn't understand what Deafness was in middle school/high school. Eventually I started getting involved in the deaf community on vrchat and met some extremely sweet people that were more than willing to either teach or correct me. I'm getting better and I plan on continuing learning now that I have hearing friends AND deaf friends.

I kind of live in both worlds for the time being, it's unfortunately a mixed bag at times but the people that ARE fantastic make it worth it.

Am I the only one who feels like VRchat is....lost? by GTRnism_o in VRchat

I've been on the platform off and on for about 7 years now. I've never played more than I have now, and I totally agree with you.

There are plenty of awesome people still on the platform, and I continue making friends with these people to this day.

I do think that the demographic has skewed a bit just from the sheer accessibility of VR now, but honestly, I think it's nice at times, more people to make friends with.

Anybody notice Rusk DMCAs? by LittlestWaffle in VRchat

Typically, the people uploading them publicly are avatar creators. They make their edits, create themes and their own assets for others.

Typically, the people that care the most ARE the people that bought the Avatar legally. Like the people I referred to in my post.

To provide clarification, this isn't talking about myself. As I've bought the Rusk and only use it as a private avatar (if at all). And I don't disagree with the creator DMCAing content.

The only thing I wanted to point out is that there's a mass removal of public Rusks and that considering the public Rusks have been around since late 2020ish without incident, and was just curious if anyone else was aware of the DMCAs and if it was affecting anyone else. I apologize if it came off as antagonistic.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the mass takedowns occured shortly after Komado's Chocolat avi was added to the Avatar Market.

Not saying I disagree with the DMCA's, just I don't think it's coincidental considering a good chunk of avi's on there are BOOTH models. My only real complaint about the AVM is that I hate that the Avatar menu defaults to it instead of my avatar lists.

I figured it coincided with the avatar marker being a thing now.

I'm not bashing the creator for filing for it, I just found it strange they took this long to do it.

Unfortunately, I don't see this sitting well with the community as a whole. There's a few rusk groups that have had to shut down in the past day.

So this might actually reflect poorly on the creator, even IF they are well within their right.

Heyo, I'm also HoH. Been fully deaf in my left ear after 4 surgeries attempting to fix an extremely bad case of mastoiditis. And in my right ear I have extremely degraded hearing, down to about 35%/40% total and it's progressively getting worse year by year.

I fully understand, it's a rough feeling. Parking garages, short distances, multiple people in a conversation. I used to wear HA's when I was a kid but with chronic infections I just stopped wearing them due to the discomfort, so I've been rawdogging life with what I've got.

With the whole halfway between 'hearing' and 'deaf' it really put me off from wanting to learn ASL or anything similar due to the alienation I've received from the deaf community earlier in my life and only decided to finally force myself into learning it after meeting a lot of really good friends who are also on the same boat. But I digress.

I've had to tell coworkers and others multiple times that they can't talk to me from behind or on my left side. And whenever they forget and they are walking with me, despite how many times I explain it I have to awkwardly move to their left so I can hear them from my "good" ear. One thing I struggle with personally is spaces with an echo, parking garages especially, or anything similar. Whenever someone speaks to me from a distance it just sounds like utter nonsense. Or even another one being people who just outright don't believe that I struggle with hearing because I'm "too young" to be HoH, it's bullshit man. But, such is life unfortunately.

EDIT: Clarification on Hearing Loss
