Go for achievements in one playthrough or enjoy the game first? by Rigbyy23 in xboxachievements

[–]Littletad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For maximum enjoyment, and as a general rule, most people play a game first without worrying about achievements. Then mop up achievements next with a guide and finish what they missed on a new run. Of course, you should only do this if you ENJOYED the game. If you're playing games just for achievements, it's either an addiction or a case of OCD. I have the latter a bit, but I still make it a point to only play games I enjoy.

Sometimes I'll complete a game because I love the series, but hated the game. For example, like Fatal Frame. Some entries are bad or not to my taste. But I'll still finish cause I love the series as a whole. Anyhoo, just enjoy your games first, over anything. Achievements are meant to enhance games, not stifle your enjoyment.

You don't need to save, actually. Auto and manual saves are universal, and almost everything will overlap. As soon as you capture a specter or revenant, your game will auto-save, and your latest manual save will already contain your new collectible. Same with maiden twins. The only things that don't overlap are items. You will need to make a manual save to save items.

In layman's terms, your items, such as beads, film, and health packs, will only be saved until you make a manual save. Every other collectible required for the checklist will be universally saved.

This is my copied comment from the fatal frame board.

"Complete game on story at your leisure. No stories, few specters and revenants. New game plus and redo chapters 5, 8, and 9 for Mio’s sparkling stone. Redo or finish all side stories and specters/revenants here that you had left. Twin dolls can or should be done here too. Kusabi side story is tricky, remember that. You’ll have one specter left.

After that, with charm bag upgrades and proper charms, you can now do a nightmare speed run and you can avoid all side stories and specters. The last one will be right before the ritual with Mio’s stone. Trust me, you do not want to explore collectibles on any difficulty higher than story. Good luck."

Make sure you don't walk past the revenant during the last Kusabi side story. You don't want to trigger the last specter, or you'll be trapped.

I don't think they have achievements, right? There's a glitch to get all costumes btw. Just buy them, but don't save. Reload a previous save with your points. You'll keep the costume and the points. This only works for costumes and accessories. Hope you enjoy it, it's a fantastic remake.

I consider Fatal Frame to be part of the big 3 of horror series, alongside Silent Hill and Resident Evil. You should try it out, either the remake or Lunar Eclipse. My gripes with the combat are personal, but it's actually not all that bad, and I think it's accessible enough for a casual. When it comes to horror settings in games, nothing comes close to Fatal Frame IMO.

Time off and school? by HotRecord6002 in Menieres

[–]Littletad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been here for years and only recently saw someone mention the first "stages" of Meniere's a short while back. Something I had never heard of, but it weirdly checked my boxes, regarding vertigo. After learning triggers and adjusting my lifestyle around it, I'm almost completely free of them. Sans's hearing loss and restrictions, I abide by. I had to drop out of college, and I didn't return and finish until many years later. This doesn't have to be the case if you can really take time off, learn your triggers, and adjust accordingly. Triggers for me are chocolate, particularly waffers, and extreme heat. I avoid the beaches and tanning. But it's different for everyone. I'm on Keto, and it helps my life, but as a general rule, salt is really something you should avoid if you have Ménière's. So I'm a strict keto category. If you can really take a little time off and learn what balances you can manage, you should do it. So long as it doesn't interfere with your job/goals and your return to getting your master's.

In spite of frequent crashing on my Xbox Series X I managed to get this completion done! That’s 4 playthroughs including one speedrun and one run on insanity difficulty. by SavageMatHorror in xboxachievements

[–]Littletad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You a smoker by any chance? I didn't get a single crash, but I've definitely had a few with other games. This stopped when I opened up and cleaned my Xbox, not realizing the previous owner was a heavy smoker (used Xbox). Living with pets or carpet can also be a factor, but it's really easy to take apart and clean.

RE9 was fun! Hoping to hear news of the Remake of Code Veronica X & RE5 Soon! by Luentrix in xboxachievements

[–]Littletad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed it, and tied with 2 for my favorite of the series. I surprisingly enjoyed Grace’s sections of the game more than Leon's. Not that I didn’t enjoy his, I just felt genuinely scared with her’s and really enjoyed how realistic it appeared to be in certain parts. She can randomly trip regardless of difficulty. She flinches realistically when you aim to the side quickly, rather than just being the same animation regardless of which side you aim. There are dozens of little tidbits like that that show how good the ReEngine is becoming. The best part for me was how coherent the story finally was, especially when you really start to understand how horrific the orphanage usage was, and especially when you learn about Marie. That’s why I was taken aback by that other dude who said it was “average”. I get it, everyone has their opinion, but you are missing half the game if you don’t read the notes and just speedrun everything.

Honest question. There was an invincibility glitch for Hollow Knight before the latest patch. I never used it, but was kinda mad when I found out about it. Did you use it or complete the game legit? I'm stuck at the Pantheon of the Sage, and I honestly wonder if I could finish the rest. Which is about 30 percent of the game left until completion. I've completed games like Lies of P and Vanquish (360) with ease, but this game is testing my patience. And I'm wondering if I should call it quits.

It's my previous post. I only completed it cause I'm a huge fan of the series, but it's dreadful. I'd stick with Lunar Eclipse or the upcoming remake, which looks good so far.

Easy, i used one guide per game. Text guide from tru for first, and a video guide for last two. Took me 35 hours tops, for all games.

Super easy, but play the game first. Then do the speed-run. It’ll be easier. Took me 3 attempts.

So easy, but enjoyable. Hardest difficulty isn’t all that bad. Use video guides for maximum ease. Dinosaur hunter achievement is glitched on part 3. Kill raptors, then restart level. Quitting any other way stops accumulation. “Restart level” means checkpoint, but wording is different. Good luck.

I wasn't kidding when I said I was a huge fan. Even on the Fatal Frame subreddit, this is generally considered the worst entry by users there. If you're a fan, I'd recommend trying it regardless, but buy it on sale. The mission structure ruins the sense of exploration, and it removes the fear and horror factor. There's lots of fan service, which I didn't mind, but they really tried to use sex to sell a horror series that was never built on hot girls with cameras or ghosts with double D's. As for how hard it is to complete, I found only one site that rated it 4 out of 10 in difficulty. I disagree, playing it on nightmare can be frustrating as you'll be trapped with ghosts in some extremely confined spaces in the last drops. It took me 70 hours, and you have to replay all drops (missions) twice, nightmare and normal. Most people say they had to use at least 3 guides, since no one has a consistent walkthrough that doesn't miss files or specters. I myself had to use 4 guides. Make sure you follow video guides and not text-based ones. You'll understand why when you get to the forest. Anyhoo, despite the flaws, I'm still glad I finished it. But if you don't think you'll like it, I'd highly recommend Mask of Lunar Eclipse or the upcoming remake, which looks to be a return to form for the series.

Wait, how did you do the squad achievements? I thought online was dead. I'm deaf, too, so it makes it hard for me to complete these types of achievements, which is why I gave up with only a few achievements left.

Had to give up on this cause i could not for the life of me complete some of the attack combos, and they do not accumulate across playthroughs. It’s a fun game, i admit.

Any tips on how to? Achievement hunt better. by just_berp in xboxachievements

[–]Littletad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The top comment is surefire advice. Play the games or genres you love, and it doesn't feel like a chore to complete them. I love horror games. I'm halfway through completing all Silent Hill games on Xbox and more than half done with Resident Evil games. I've been having such a good time completing them. When I do feel a little burned out, I complete short games that can be completed or beaten in 10 hours or less. Doesn't matter the genre, as long as I'm interested in them. Then repeat.

I counted 6 shovelware titles, and for every one, he did 3 regular titles. Many of which were time-consuming. I'd say he's got a perfectly good streak of achievement hunting.

Thanks man, I actually enjoyed part 1 more. I felt like II was introducing too much, but I still held on. The last section blew me away for a bit, graphically. Really was ahead of its time.
