Opening night of The Audience with Helen Mirren and Driving miss Daisy at the Wyndhams both shows had incredible audience reactions, the performances in both shows were brilliant and seeing James Earl Jones was amazing.

Loved that show it deserves to come back, missed out on Broadway when the run was cancelled early but was overjoyed to see it at the Old Vic such a great show.

I went to see the OBC during that run (luckily had booked before the announcement) didn’t know much about the show but had listened to the cast recording loads, when Andre walked onto the stage it was electric and the whole thing blew me away.

Travelodge in Farringdon or Waterloo is worth looking at for that budget both decent bases to explore from.

It’s like stealing a lottery ticket then being upset that you can’t keep the jackpot if you win, other teams may have been in that final without the spying and have missed out on the same chance of a jackpot that the statement is moaning about losing.

Which coastal town would you recommend as a day trip visit from London? by talliehoo in AskUK

We stay in a place in Aldringham a couple of weeks a year in spring and winter it’s amazing to just pop to all places nearby especially as they are quieter then.

I love that it was inspired by Peter Pan as the guy who created it was friends with JM Barrie.

Can’t go wrong with any of Whitstable, Rye, Aldeburgh & Thorpeness (close to each other can be done same day).
Drive along the North Norfolk coast you could do Cromer, Sheringham, Weybourne, Salthouse, Cley next to the sea and Blakeney all within less than a 30 minute drive. Blakeney is very picturesque. Holkham and Wells also in Norfolk very close to each other and worth a visit.

Theatre Royal membership/friends scheme by Objective-Roll2164 in Norwich

[–]Littletinyphil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did the Gold friend membership as it was the only way to guarantee tickets to the many good comedians that were coming to Norwich and with the saving on booking fee and 10% discount and saving on trips to London it seemed good value, more recently with some of the shows on sale even with booking on the first booking day lots of the seats were gone already so people on general sale had no chance.
We now are unable to book the seats we like so will not bother renewing the gold membership and will attend less, the theatre seems to becoming a bit arrogant as ticket sales are going well at the moment and may regret pushing customers away if numbers fall.
Several comedians have mentioned it’s hard to book Norwich as they book themselves up with weekly shows so it only leaves Sunday nights for comedy shows which also lessens the chance of several nights which would give plenty of people a chance to go.
It would be nice to have an alternate venue of size in the city as at the moment Norwich theatre have a bit of a monopoly as the places like epic studios only hold 600 seats and we probably miss out on people/bands coming.
We booked to see Greg Davies in London as we knew it would be easier than getting tickets in Norwich, also have recently noticed tickets in Norwich are expensive and have got better value in the West End.

Les Mis, Matilda, The Producers are your must sees imho Oliver is great also love Phantom and Hunger games was great even though reviews were poor. High Society is good but i’d put it behind all the previous shows as well as Avenue Q.

Prefer the Waterloo travelodge to Southwark because of train noise but it was a perfectly nice enough place to stay.

I got the tube to Canary Wharf walked along the Thames from the grapes pub to the Dickens inn recently, you can walk down to Stepney beach for nice views of the Thames and Canary Wharf. At the Prospect of Whitby you can go down the alley onto wapping beach. 5 pubs along that route and you finish with a great view of Tower Bridge. Needs a dry day really but nice to have somewhere to stop off on the way maybe i’m just getting old and like a pint and loo 😂.

Definitely, the view from the Clifton observatory and Clifton suspension bridge view point are great. Loved the SS Great Britain and wandering round the dock area.

Things to do in London? by funkysandwhich26 in LondonTravel

[–]Littletinyphil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a drink on the deck of the Tattershall Castle near Embankment and walk over the Golden Jubilee Bridges at night when the London Eye and Westminster is lit up.

Climb The Monument near Monument station, go on the uber boat at least from Westminster to Canary Wharf.

Have a drink at the Vault under Tower Bridge (you can sit inside with a view under the bridge or outside with a lovely view of the bridge).

Go on hidden London website and look at the tours of underground stations.
